That's false. Just like Jaja embraced Ubani, that's how so many Igbos left behind in Opobo, Bonny and Queens town may have embraced Ubani identity. The majority of individuals in the above settlements are igbos.

Jaja of Opobo is a full blooded Igbo man of Arochukwu extraction that grew to become the greatest man in Opobo and founded Rivers state.

All Rivers state indigenes are Igbo.

Since the ijaws like occupying the riverside, due to their culture, and worship, they leave the upland of their territory unoccupied. I'm many cases, other migrating tribes come and settle, become the majority and over 200 years or more, they colonize the ijaws by language. But usually, the ancestry is not forgotten.

In Ndoki for example, the traditional rulers and elders are the ones who are on record to come out to claim that they are by ancestry, Ibani ijaws who were igbonized. Now they're trying to come back to there ancestry.

Likewise in other parts of the south. In Akwa Ibom, Edo, Ondo, Lagos, Abia, Imo, basically all the coastline on Nigeria and the inland waters....if you do your due diligence, the communities found there are by ancestry, ijaws who have been heavily influenced by the upland dwellers who came in later.

There's no time in history Opobo was ever Igbo land.
