Economy My Priority Now - Tinubu Tells Anyaoku, Others Seeking New Constitution by BeeBeeOoh(op): 8:15pm On Aug 09, 2024
President Bola Tinubu has told The Patriots, a group of eminent Nigerians, that retooling the economy for sustainable growth and development is the major priority of his administration and not working for a new Constitution.

The President, however, assured the group led by Chief Emeka Anyaoku, former Commonwealth Secretary-General, who visited him at the State House on Friday, that their request for the convening of a national constituent assembly with the mandate to draft a new constitution will be reviewed.

Chief Anyaoku, speaking on behalf of The Patriots, appealed to the President to send an executive bill to the National Assembly, proposing two measures:

”The convening of a national constituent assembly with the mandate to produce a draft people’s democratic constitution. The constituent assembly should be of directly elected individuals, on a non-political basis, from the 36 states of the federation, possibly three individuals per state, and one from the FCT.

”They should be assisted by seven constitutional lawyers, one drawn from each of the six geo-political zones and the FCT. The deliberations of the constituent assembly should take into full account the 1960/63 constitutions, as well as the recommendations of the 2014 National Conference and indeed of the various national conferences that considered the Nigerian constitutions.”

Chief Anyaoku also said the Patriots requested legislating for a national plebiscite to which the draft constitution emerging from the constituent assembly should be subjected.

Responding to their requests, the President expressed his respect for The Patriots and their contributions to national discourse.

‘He said, “I want to assure all of you that as I listened to your two major requests on the path to referendum and that should lead to constitutional measures that will fit our diversity and governance so that we avoid conflicts and break-ups.

”I believe in the unity of this country and I want to assure you that whatever is necessary to put happiness and good governance in the hands of all Nigerians is what I would do,” the President said.

President Tinubu also noted that the clamour for constitutional reforms is a longstanding issue in national discourse.

He acknowledged the examples presented by the Patriots on pluralistic countries, such as Canada and India, which have maintained unity by addressing their diversity through their constitutions.

”The avoidance of chaos is necessary to build this country and move its aspirations forward for the benefit of all of us.

”I am currently preoccupied with economic reform. That is my first priority. Once this is in place, as soon as possible, I will look at other options, including constitutional review as recommended by you and other options,” the President said.

President Tinubu told Chief Anyaoku that he would be invited again for a more detailed conversation on the submissions of the Patriot.

”As you present this, just believe that it will be reviewed, and I commit myself to the belief that you want a stable and prosperous Nigeria,” President Tinubu concluded.

Storyland! According to one commenter, this man singlehandedly threw millions into severe pains for over a year now. And now he wants to be commended for working to fix the problems he created? And it is not like he intends to fix it at no cost to the same Nigerian people. 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄

Abeg, listen to the protesters as their demands are legitimate and supported by Nigerians across regions. undecided

History will be kind to this president for his ability to keep moving the ball forward even as it seems everything is failing around him
This president is running like he is not interested in a second term, very unpopular policies but he is doubling down because it needs to be done tiday
I visited the coastal road recently, the road from Folu Town (around LaCampaigne Tropicana) to Ode Omi in Ogun State is on Steroids
I wish I can share a video here but those guys are working non stop and the progress is evident
As for the birthing of a new constitution, Asiwaju is a politician's politician
He reads the room very well,he has seen the hand writing on the wall, the north is unhappy and I can bet you,re alignments are going on seriously
If he sees that he will not be able to get a second term, believe me he will push through a new constitution
I can tell you he will have some good allies that will help him truly restructure and pave the way for Nigeria to get a constitution written by the people...

Tinubu is on the right track! Prioritizing the economy is key to unlocking Nigeria's potential.

A strong economy lays the foundation for any constitutional reforms. Let's support his vision for a prosperous Nigeria!

I've lost confidence in you and your Party Sir. You further bastardized and truncated the Economy of this prosperous country the very day you got sworned in as the President, by declaring "Fuel Subsidy is Gone". Who does that? If you want to demolish a building, you start by packing out first, you don't collapse it with people living inside.

It's about time we focus on the economy! A new constitution won't fix the fundamental issues if the economy isn't thriving. Let’s give Tinubu a chance to prioritize what truly matters for the people. Without a strong economy, everything else is just noise.
Re: Economy My Priority Now - Tinubu Tells Anyaoku, Others Seeking New Constitution by AbaganaMiracle:
This is for the fools and eediots that calls themselves obidiooottss. The problem of the cesspit that you are dying hard to belong to lies on it's present useless constitution, but because the yorubas and the fooooolanis knows that rewriting the constitution and removing all the 68 items from their so called exclusive list will make the SE/Igbos to have the upper hand in economy and every other aspects because of the new level playing ground that it will present, hence those wicked cowards will never allow the present constitution to be uttered.

All of you useful idiot Igbos that are hoping to repeat another round of PVC eediocy in 2027 are nothing but foooools. Election will never solve you problem. The only thing that will solve your cesspit problem is rewriting the constitution, but such act will mean all the Sea ports at PortHarcourt, Calaba and Warri will start to work in open completion with Lagos ports as the useless 68 exclusive items will be shredded into pieces, and you know what that will mean for the yorubas and their Lagos economy. Most importers are Igbos and will start using the above mentioned seaports most of the times.

It will also mean having all the airports in SE and SS upgraded to international to compete with Lagos and Abuja and you know what that means to Lagos and north economies. Igbos are the most importers and most travelers in and out of nigeria, meaning that most of imported goods will now start to come in from Warri, Port Harcourt and Calaba seaports and most travelers will start use Ebonyi, Delta, AkwaIbom PortHarcourt, Enugu, and Anambra airports for their flying in and out of the country. Lagos and Abuja airports will fall flat in revenue and Easterners will make all the money from using the Seaports and Aviation in their region.

These are the reasons why they locked up aviation and Maritime inside their wicked 68 exclusive items and the muguish obidiooootss that doesn't know anything are there dying to belong to a country that locked up their future inside it's useless wicked constitution that they will shed their blood to protect instead of rewriting it.. Foolish useful idiot Igbo obiddioootss, all of you empty heads will be dragged into Biafra by Simon Ekpa, by fire by force.

Tinubu knows the economy is the backbone of progress. Prioritizing sustainable growth shows he’s focused on real change. Once that’s set, he can tackle the constitutional concerns. Smart move, Mr. President!

Only the useful eddiot Igbos known as the obidiooots will fall for this nonsense you and your ilk are writing. We the Biafrans know better and will make sure we crumble your cesspit to save lives for the sake of the future of our children.

Tell Tinubu to keep quiet there.
Which economy is his priority?
Is he the economy he ruined?
Let him just shut his stinking mouth and continue his looting jeje till 2027 and just go.
One thing I am absolutely sure of is that no 2nd term for him.
The South East can NEVER vote him, the South south don't want him, the North have rejected him, the South West don't trust him anymore. Who will vote him then?
Otilor.
