irisher:
FYI, Lagos still buy market from Onitsha & clothings from Aba to sale in Lagos. Onitsha goods tends to be quiet more cheaper compared to Lagos.
The greatest mistake Nd'Igbo did in Lagos was building "Lagos International Trade Fair" I overheard that Ndi Igbo brought the idea and developed the place. But we can still bounce back, there's a saying in Igboland which translate to "Okoro adighi akari onye koro ya" there's a plan to move Ladipo & ASPMDA market to Umueri International market, Alaba market and Ikeja to Oraifite etc..
It's Ndi Igbo that brought the ideas of these markets and the same Nd'Igbo will definitely determine where it will stay next.

We can make our regions more viable, Anambra state has more indigenous clusters of industries than Lagos, Onitsha harbour industrial layout is the largest industrial estates in Nigeria.
There are so many industries in Anambra State, I know many Anambra products that are being sold in Lagos, but the problem here is Nigeria export strategy is poor which is caused by selfish government because you've to bring your goods to Apapa Lagos for exportation.
We still have to invest more on our land.
Finally a reasonable response. The fact that you responded logically, highlighted our flaws as Ndigbo as well the actions we are taking to correct the mistakes showed that you understood my post. I was only trying to make the other dude understand that Lagos was built by all Nigerians irrespective of ethnicity and not by only Ndigbo like his comment portrayed.

Anybody can easily twist history just to disregard Ndi Igbo their priorities, when it comes to business in Africa as a whole leave it for Nd'Igbo.

Ndi Igbo brought the idea of "Lagos International Trade Fair" that's situated along Badagary expressway, Amuwo Odofin. And it was being leased by Federal government of Nigeria to Ndi Igbo for 100 years.

The market is being managed and owned by Nd'Igbo including Igbo task force and president till date.
Never heard of any O'dua's Investment activity in Trade fair. Yes, Lagos Chamber of Commerce & Industry will be part of the agreement but the brain behind that Market is Nd'Igbo.

The largest international market being built in Port-Novo, Republic of Benin, is owned by businessmen from Abia and Anambra, does it mean the the government of the Republic of Benin should not be part of the deal ?
Shikena:
Lagos International Trade Fair was initiated by and organized by Lagos Chamber of Commerce & Industry and started in 1977. It was never an initiative of Ndigbo. That was the heydays of the acclaimed O'dua Investment, with several manufacturing subsidiaries across the SW.

O'dua Investment came out of Western Nigeria Development Corporation WNDC (established in the 1950s) and Western States Industrial Investment and Credit Corporation IICC.

However, Lagos Chamber of Commerce & Industry had and still has active Igbo members, including the current DG, and they all work together for progress.

No any Lagos residence can deny the fact that Nd'Igbo controls 90 percent of major markets in Lagos.

Go and verify.

Who then are you blaming for all these things? What the Igbo people are going through in Nigeria and other African countries is largely self inflicted pain. The South East has a similar size with Israel, if Igbo people had learnt from their experiences during the civil war and focused on Igboland since the 70s, the 5 eastern states of Nigeria would have been the most progressive states in all of West Africa. Look at the kind of massive industries the Igbos have in the South West. If all those investments were domiciled in the South East in addition to the existing indigenous businesses, the South East would have been world class like Johannesburg by now. Even with the terrible policies of the Federal Government over the years, the SE would have still been progressing fast. We would have built our own Seaports just like Lagos did because our states would have been wealthy enough to build such a project. Today we are the wanderers of Nigeria scattered like mumu all over the world and getting chased up and down because we failed to build our land. It's nice we are waking up gradually and I hope we achieve fast growth because we have really slowed down our own growth by ourselves without knowing.

You're speaking from both sides of your mouth, hence trying to deviate from the main point, is South Africa also part of One Nigeria?
The case of South Africa is clearly xenophobic.

The problem we have in Nigeria is tribalism, of which you know the Igbos are accommodating in nature that they don't have any utter of tribalism in their blood.
In reality, every Nigerian has a right to own a property in any part of the country.
So we've the right to claim any place in Nigeria.

Free yourself from hatred and tribalism, at the other hand, we still call our brothers attention to industrialise our regions.

Says the chief tribalist. Smell the coffee dude, emotional blackmail won't work anymore. There is no no man's land in Africa. The game is over. Ethnic awareness will continue to grow, keep focusing on your land and don't pretend you don't have your land. This thread promotes that and I love it. Stop being a hypocrite. You are a tribalist, embrace it, you fool no one but yourself. When you go outside your land, do your business freely, own your personal lands, and respect the owners of the land where you settle, this is not USA. No civilization will change that.

Don't confuse the right to buy your own land in Kano, Ile-Ife or Enugu with no man's land in Africa. You are dead wrong.

Shikena! cool

This reasoning just spewed out from a self acclaimed civilised dude! As long as One Nigeria is concerned, every citizen of Nigeria has a right to claim any place S/he domiciled.

If you don't like that Constitution, you can as well request for disintegration of Nigeria.
Re: Update on developments in Anambra state-photos by irisher:

Re: Update on developments in Anambra state-photos by Shikena(m): 11:05am On Aug 11, 2024
grin South Africa also has inclusive constitution for people living there legally.

My dear Igboman, the concepts of ethnic identity and awareness are fundamental to understanding yourself and one's place in the world. They are not, in themselves, uncivilized.
The notion of "civilized" that you hide behind is complex and subjective. It has been used throughout history to justify oppression and discrimination against groups deemed "uncivilized." This is a harmful and inaccurate way of viewing the world. It is often used by people with specific agenda.

Ethnic identity and awareness are positive forces for connection, community, and cultural enrichment. Yes, just as you can use a knife to prepare food and also to harm other people, they can also be sources of conflict and misunderstanding. The key is how these identities and awarenesses are expressed and understood.

When ethnic identity and awareness are used to promote inclusivity, respect, and understanding, they are positive forces. When they are used to promote violence, they are harmful.

A multi-ethnic society comes with huge challenges. We can embrace each other, support each other, grow together but you cannot force feed me with what you can never accept. You know your ethnicity's land. Simple.

Abuja is FCT. That is no man's land carved out and acquired by indigenous Nigerian government for Nigerians in 1976. Lagos, adopted by colonialists as capital ceased to be federal capital in 1993, 31 years ago!

You can claim private ownership of property anywhere, even in South Africa, and I can also do so in Aguleri, but that's as far as it goes. Face reality, and if you are not ready for that you can try and become Lagos Governor grin

Also, thank you very much for addressing me as Umu-Yoruba the oil soup and ewedu eater. You can even spit on me in your very civilized traditional way. I totally embrace all that with full pride of an African son.

It is up to you to quit the pretense and hypocrisy. Victim mentality and emotional blackmail is now stale. You don't have no man's land in Igboland and we don't have no man's land in Yorubaland, what is the issue? grin

Brother, keep short if you don't have anything reasonable to say, you cannot go against the rule of law with your ethnic identity bla bla blah!

Since federal government of Nigeria leased Lagos International Trade Fair to Nd'Igbo for 100 years, Lagos ethnic sh!t does not have the power to claim the market from Ndi Igbo, even the Lagos state government can't do that because the agreement was made between Ndi Igbo and the Federal government of Nigeria, when Lagos state was the Capital of Nigeria. And the agreement is renewable after 100 years.
So Lagos state government must wait after 100 years when the agreement has already elapsed.

Your ethnic identity and awareness is just another form of tribalism it has no power over the rule of law. FYI, hatred and tribalism is forbidden in Nigeria, hence the case of One Nigeria.
As far as Nigeria is concerned Lagos & Abuja or any place in Nigeria belongs to Nd'Igbo too.

Face reality dude, online rants and physical reality are two different things. Get yourself educated on the limits of the old federal territory boundary in Lagos, also FG leased nothing to any Ndigbo so that's a blatant lie. Also, if you live in Lagos you better start learning Yoruba language. The government will start issuing most directives in Yoruba language going forward and very soon we are rolling out compulsory Yoruba language classes in Lagos schools, your children will love it and be proud African kids.
