Obaseki says Uwelu-Siluko Road ‘ll boost economic activities, open more communities to devt

The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has said the construction of the Uwelu-Adolor Road, in Egor Local Government Area of the State, will boost economic activities and open more communities in the State to development.

The governor who spoke while addressing journalists in Benin City, the Edo State capital, said the road will serve as a bypass connecting several communities in the State.

According to him, the road will span from Uwelu to Siluko Road, through the Uwelu Market and Power line, and down to Adolor.

Reaffirming his government’s commitment to opening up more communities for economic activities and development, Obaseki assured that all ongoing road projects in the State will be completed before the end of his administration in November.

The governor restated that the road is to be developed as part of plans to create internal bypass roads to decongest traffic from the Lagos-Benin Expressway, adding that the road when completed will serve as a mini bypass to move traffic around the Benin metropolis.

According to Obaseki, “The Uwelu Road will be rebuilt, from Siluko back to Uwelu Market, to connect Powerline and the work that has been done along Adolor. This is all part of our efforts to build our internal roads and get traffic moving around the city.

“We are trying to have internal bypasses to take traffic coming in from the Lagos axis to the Benin Ugbowo axis through that traffic into Siluko and onto Ekenwan Road. This will be like the Western bypass, a mini bypass to take traffic and move around the City.”

It's been 25 years and about 100 billion dollars down the drain at this point and Nigerians are still without the following basic amenities

■ Electricity
■ Clean Water Supply
■ Sewage
■ Good Roads(roads built by the ancient Romans thousands of years ago are still very much available to this day)
■ Passenger Rail
■ Security
■ Reliable internet and mobile services
■ Waste Management
■ Strong healthcare system
■sturdy educational & training System
■a Welfare/Social system....

Mr. Godwin Obaseki is one of the many colossal failures of the last 25 years. Let's stop recycling obvious Kakistocrats! undecided

That Southern Benin bypass is overdue, imagine if you had to go to Ekhenuan campus by Tuke Tuke from ugbowo axis, you have to go into Ring road first.

Or if you are going towards Sapele, Warri or Port Harcourt from Lagos, you have to go through the city and gridlock traffic.

Let the bypass go all the way across from oluku junction to Sapele road please. Less of the heavy vehicular traffic passing through destroying Benin roads.

Obaseki and his endless promises! How many roads have we heard about that were supposed to transform our economy? Uwelu-siluko Road won’t change a thing if the leadership remains the same. It’s all talk and no action. We need more than just a road; we need genuine commitment to development, not just empty slogans! When will he realize that our people deserve better than these half-hearted initiatives? Enough of the distractions, let’s see some real results!
