Am not surprised. Immediately I see this pictures of them. Without ibos honestly this nation is doomed in all. From sports , to all.

In sports, the area designated as Biafra are the place most super eagles , etc came from. What a shame

The whole scenario is painful cha ..

To even imagine that FG spent billions of naira only to go and come back with even an ordinary iron condemn scrab is really painful I must say..
They claim to have spent Billions... On whom exactly?!! On what exactly?!!

On the athletes?!! In their welfare and training?!!

The top nations there started spending Billions since last Olympics!

Olympic games happen once in 4 years... What was the Sport's ministry doing with and for the athletes all that time?!!

What efforts did they make to search and scout for true talents amongst the vast population?!! What did they do to train and build them up before the Olympics?!!

Same thing is happening in the football sector too.

No preparations, no investment, just corruption and stealing!

Countries that perennially win medals don't start throwing Billions at preparation few weeks to the games. We are talking serious years of scouting and training.

Even our only qualified cyclist didn't even have a bike to compete with! Yet they "spent billions"!

The day I heard the tales of woes and experiences of some our sportsmen and women... I almost wept!

Forget all these talks and reactions...!

Nigeria is GONE!!!

The money should be used to hunt for talents.

Young athletes been winning gold/medals for their countries, even from 17 years of age.
Age/connections shouldn't define who represent Nigeria, but performance should

The Yoruba-led team they were bragging with came back in disgrace. ZERO medals.

Tobi Amusan the drug cheat did not make final
Anuoluwapo Opeyori did not make final
Cynthia Ogunsemilore sent home for taking drugs

The only finalist was Igbo Favour Ofili and her 100m place was sabotaged by the hateful tribe.

Nigeria needs to be serious,we can't keep wasting money without results
Corruption is the problem in our sports. Nigeria is almost 300m in population. Sadly, everyone at the helms wants to collect. The highest bidders always got the slot. We can gather the best Olympic squad from just one LGA in Nigeria

I asked you in the other post but you ran away.

Point out which statement in my write up is false.

That it is not a Yoruba-led team?
That they didn't return in shame?
That they didn't have ZERO medals?
That the 2 leaders didn't make final?
That the other boxer wasn't sent home for drugging?
Or the images are photoshop/AI-generated?

Which one?

The truth stings.

He's the major cause of these disappointments , he should hide his head in shame , yes I said so .

When we warned and predicted the current state of the Country before the Elections and advocated for the unity of the Opposition so as to flush away the common enemy ,APC, from Aso Rock , he was busy dividing the opposition and deceiving Obidients.

When we screamed into the ears of his Media horde that a vote for Labour Party is an indirect vote for Tinubu who is far worse than Buhari,,,,, they said "we will rather PO , even if we lose , we will know that we have made a statement" ,,,, Na the Statement when dem make nai Nigeria de face so .

If he had checked his greed and continued with Atiku in PDP like they both did in 2019 , they would have won and the Country wouldn't have been this bad having the highest employer of labour in Adamawa State and Mr Consumption at the helm of affairs .

But Things fell apart and the centre couldn't hold , see the state of the Nation in the hands of Jagaban

The moment you bring in tribe, just know you have trivialised and rubbished the severity of this post...!

If you can't see the world beyond tribes and ethnicity, you have already doomed yourself unconsciously.

I feel the athletes should have been arrested on arrival at murtala muhammed airport.

With 24 strokes daily for 6 months, they would be more serious at future competitions.

Ever heard the wise saying:

"Don't blame them if you didn't properly train them"

You think it's a coincidence that even your football sector is in shambles?!!

Your senior male team can't boast of a proper first team till today.

Even the female basketball team that got to the semis were largely trained and raised abroad!

Nigeria as a country doesn't have a single excellent sports sector!

As in... You can't name one sport in this nation that can hold its head high at the international stage... Not one!!!

You have a serious LEADERSHIP problem in Nigeria

Fix that first, and everything else will fall in line!

With a president who loves sports, our sportsmen and women would have got more attention, training and support to perform better.

Election has consequences.
You need to know where to draw the line. What has been the winning culture of Nigeria at the Olympics and other international competitions over the years? Dwindling

Our systems are failing, our best athletes have either have their eyes outside or have left, they simply weren’t good enough.

Soon the talent and brain drain will start affecting other sectors not just sports.

Nigerians are good at complaining and blame the government and others and often fail to remember that it begins with us individuals.

Top performers always show up regardless of externalities

Awon chemical solution..

In your mind now you are making sense by proffering some silly and impractical fantasies you are calling solution...

Write all the baloney that you know, if Nigeria do not fight corruption and tribalism, she will remain doomed for mediocrity...

Everybody can give guidelines but how many people are keen to demonstrate the discipline and objectivity requisite for national renaissance?

You elect demons to rule over you and then start praying for miracles....
emkz:
Well, has Peter Obi expressed his own disappointment in losing the 2023 presidential elections?

How many times did he support the athletes?

In his lamentations, he failed to proffer solutions. He only claimed the money spent on athletes was more than what was spent in the Ministry of Science and Technology.

Because I am all for solutions and no lamentations, I like to propose as follows:

(1) We can't prepare for an event three months before when we had a clear 4-year window. We need to start preparing for the next Olympics NOW!

(2) We have certain events where we have comparative advantages. For example, swimming amd canoeing. The Niger Delta folks with preparation can easily shine here. Some people expressed surprise that break dancing was part of the Olympics. I am reasonably well traveled and I can say Nigeria has some of the best dancers in the world. We can also stand out in archery and diving given adequate preparation.

(3) We also must revive Nigerian University Games Association (NUGA), Nigerian Polytechnic Games Association (NIPOGA), Principal's Cup, National Sports Festival and get corporate organizations to participate.

(4) All tertiary institutions must make two sporting activities compulsory for students, even if it is chess. It helps the mind.

(5) Let universities provide full scholarships for talented student-athletes. They can look for a sport-loving corporate organization to endow such a fund.

(6) As a matter of urgency, let people who are truly passionate about sports take charge of sporting federations.

(7) Let us look at countries doing well and copy what they did. By identifying talents and grooming them, we can make it.

Let me start by stating that I am not disappointed in Team Nigeria. Despite the fact that the female basketball team, D'Tigress, were blocked in the last Olympics by one sports minister, they made a good showing in this year's Olympics, defeating Australia and Canada. Rene Wakama made a brilliant showing and won the best coach at the Olympics. Favour Ofili, we are sorry it did not go as planned. Train harder and you'd only get better. We'd support you the best way we can. Blessing Oborodudu, you came close the last time. We hope you'd get even better. Ese Brume, you won for us before; we have faith in you. The male relay team, you surely learnt your lessons and would avoid the mistakes next time. For the weightlifters, please work harder. For those I might have forgotten, those of us who have had to represent others understand the pressure you faced carrying the burden and hopes of a country.

I believe I speak the minds of sensible nairalanders and Nigeria when I say:

WE ARE GRATEFUL!
