‘Adeleke Will Cry In 2026’ — Osun PDP Members Warn Gov’s Sister Against Imposing LG Poll Candidates

The Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is facing a crisis ahead of the party’s upcoming local government primary elections scheduled for August 18, 2024.

Several videos have surfaced on social media, showing senior party leaders alleging imposition of candidates by the party’s state executive and some “superior leaders”.

In one of such videos, a prominent party member, Falilate Arike Yusuf (known as “Ero-Arike”) from Iragbiji Local Government Area is seen crying and lamenting that the party has betrayed her loyalty after reneging on their promise to give her husband the chairmanship ticket.

“When they appointed a Caretaker Committee for Boripe council, they refused to appoint my husband, Akeem. I raised concerns, but they assured me at the Governor’s house that my husband will be given the party’s ticket for the LG election. I have spent money on party excos for this, and I refused to be disappointed. I worked so hard for the party, and now they have concluded plans not to give him the ticket. It is unfortunate that I am getting this in return,” Arike said in the video.

Another video showed a PDP leader, identified as Chief Ade, warning the party leadership against imposing candidates across the state.

We need to warn Yeye Dupe (Adeleke’s sister) not to create problems within PDP. She is not the governor, hence, she cannot sway us and impose candidates on us. If she tries to do that, the forthcoming Governorship election, Ademola Adeleke will cry,” he said.

Also, the party’s ex-officio for Ife East council, Olalekan Olawole, released a video from the Moore Divisional Police Headquarters, where he had taken refuge after an alleged assassination attempt on him by some hoodlums.

Oluwole, who is contesting the chairmanship seat for Ife East Local Government, claimed that he was attacked by political thugs sponsored by a party leader in Osun State.

When contacted, the Osun PDP Director of Media and Publicity, Oladele Bamiji, acknowledged the issues raised but dismissed them as “normal at this period” and suggested that the party members were “raising artificial issues to force the hand of the party to do their bidding.”

Regarding the alleged assassination attempt, Bamiji stated that the person “was taking refuge at the police station while making the video.”

Meanwhile, APC To Participate In Osun LG Poll

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has announced that it will participate in the upcoming local government election.

The APC State Secretary, Kamikudeen Alao, told journalists in Osogbo, the state capital, that the party would not boycott the exercise.

Following the Supreme Court verdict granting autonomy to local government administration, the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSIEC) has initiated the process of conducting the local government election.

However, the APC expressed concerns regarding the neutrality of the election, citing the chairman of the state electoral body, Hasim Abioye, as a known member of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and a former special adviser to the state governor, Senator Nurudeen Ademola Jackson Adeleke.

The APC claimed that as long as Abioye remains the chairman, the election will not be free and fair.

In a similar vein, a civil society activist, Comrade Waheed Saka, has advised OSIEC to ensure impartiality in the electoral process.

Saka, who is the Director of Programme at the Centre for Sustained Dialogue in the state, noted that trust had been eroded by the appointment of a card-carrying member of the PDP and Special Adviser to Governor Adeleke as the chairman of the electoral commission.

This is what happens when a party loses touch with its members.

Imposition will only lead to more tears for Adeleke and his sister.

PDP is failing to learn from past mistakes, and the cries of the loyal members will not be ignored.

They need to wake up and realize that unity is strength, not oppression.

Time to put the people first, or they will surely cry come 2026.

Gov. Adeleke and the Satanic N19bn Extra-budgetary spending
In the last four days, the propaganda of the Babylonian government in Osun State has been at full throttle, with different media rottweilers falling over themselves to deodorize the political and financial satanism going on in the government of Senator Ademola Adeleke, especially after the Sunday's exposure of the lifeless administration by the Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prince Adebayo Adeleke (BANIK).
However, rather than addressing the fundamental issues broached by Prince BANIK and other APC ideologues, the compulsive liars and pedicular savages employed to rationalize the alleged infractions of the government have been rolling in the gutter like pigs, cursing, threatening and convulsing like someone battling with epileptic seizure. To them, asking Governor Ademola Adeleke to be transparent and accountable is a grievous sin of sedition and libel for which we must be physically assaulted, emotionally subjugated or sent to Ayeso or Kosere prisons to serve as a lesson to other good governance advocates in the state . These elements are yet to come to terms with reality that gone were the days when innocent citizens like Otunba Raheem Ade Komolafe and Agboola Obadare would be bullied to submission without any repercussion. Bullies nowadays have to account for their malignity just as responsible and dispassionate Nigerians do not rely on beer parlour conversation to form their political opinions.
Above said, we move to another pressing matter. It is no longer news that of the N15billion projected by the Adeleke-led government as 2024 revenue from Natural and Mineral Resources, only miserable N27million was made in the first-half of the year ( Jan-June 2024). It is also no news again that while the government spent N402million on that sector in 2023, the state of the Omoluabi only made a revenue of N30million. Ditto for the Q1 and Q2 of 2024 where though Osun made ridiculous N27m, the government incurred N80million expenses.
Again, it is also no news that the Office of the Governor has spent N27billion in the last 20 months that Governor Adeleke came on board: N19billion in 2023 and N8billion in the first two quarters of 2024. But what is news is that the governor spent money for his office in 2023 without approval, in gross violation of the extant laws, particularly the Section 3 (ii) of the state's Appropriation Law of 2023 and Sections 22 (4) and and 22 (5) of the ICPC Act 2000 (As amended).
Recall that the original 2023 budget for the Office of the Governor, as signed on November 2022 by ex-Governor Adegboyega Oyetola, was N6.2billion. N1.1billion for Personnel Cost, N608million for Capital Projects and N4.4bn for Recurrent Expenditures. But on August 15, 2023, Governor Adeleke presented to and got a supplementary budget passed into law by the Osun State House of Assembly. In the Supplementary Budget, extra N10.1billion was added on the original budget of N6.2bn to make it N16.3bn. While N6.5bn was added on Recurrent and N3.6bn on Capital, the Personnel Cost, strangely, remained static.
The budget over-bloat came at a time the budget for Agriculture, UNIOSUN, Sports and other keys sectors were cut down. But despite the hues and cries that attended the insane budget increment last year, Governor Adeleke still went ahead to spend N19.2billion, as against N16.4billion approved for him in the unpatriotic Supplementary Budget, thus engaging in extra-budgetary and unuthorized spending amounting to N2.8billion.
The action of the governor, apart from breaching the Fiscal Responsibility Law of the state, made the budget a mere ritual and formality, rather than an instrument for planning and accountability.
The Section 3 (ii) of the Appropriation Law earlier quoted clearly states that no money should be spent outside the amount approved in the budget.
The relevant sections of the ICPC Act also criminalize spending government money not approved by the legislature. Penalty for such an irresponsible conduct is imprisonment.
We task the state government of Osun to shed more light on this alleged illegal spending.

It's truly disheartening to see how the PDP continues to play its old tricks. Imposing candidates instead of allowing the people to choose is a recipe for disaster. Osun deserves better than this patronizing attitude! It’s high time they understand that leadership is about service, not entitlement. The people will not be silenced, and come 2026, the true voice of Osun will ring louder than ever. Enough of this nonsense!

I have always maintained that Adeleke is mentally and psychologically unfit to be governor. He lacks the mental soundness and academic base to become a governor... Oyetola's abysmal performance was what helped him. Even PDP should have fielded a sound person, but sentiments didn't allow them because of his late brother.

They've compensated the Adeleke family with the governorship, please after 4 years, dancing governor can go and dance skelewu at home. Osun state doesn't belong to Adeleke's family.
