ednut1:What are you saying? She was born in South Africa. She's automatically a South African citizen. Doesn't matter where her parents come from.

Gerrard59:I don't know if its simple English that is hard for you people to understand. If a child is born and raised in a country, no matter the citizenship of the parents, or if they faked any citizenship, the child acquires citizenship of that country after a certain age, usually between 7 and 10 years old So no matter if Chidimma's mother faked whatever citizenship, the fact that Chidimma was born and raised in South Africa gives her South African citizenship In America, once a child is born there, he or she get US citizenship at birth, no matter what citizenship the parents might hold |

[quote author=gidgiddy post=131456183]I don't know if its simple English that is hard for you people to understand. In most of the Western European countries the citizenship of a newly born is determined by the citizenship and the immigration status of the Parents. |

ednut1:Ain't nobody revoking her citizenship, she was born there, that alone makes her one |

gidgiddy:Clearly, you have a big problem with the English language. See my response: No. But because a parent of hers - who was not a South African national at the time of birthing Chidinma - falsified her nationality status, it means Chidinma's claim to South African nationality is doubtful. In simple English, a parent of Chidinma faked her citizenship, so thus, the children's South African citizenship is in doubt. In fact, as it is, she can be stripped of South African citizenship and told to re-apply. Just because she was born and bred in South Africa does not entitle her to being a South African by nationality. South Africa practices a restricted form of jus soli. So no matter if Chidimma's mother faked whatever citizenship, the fact that Chidimma was born and raised in South Africa gives her South African citizenshipYou are not a member of the judicial council in South Africa. Do you issue South African citizenship to foreigners? The bold is patently false. I linked the change in naturalisation laws the government enacted in 1995. In America, once a child is born there, he or she gets US citizenship at birth, no matter what citizenship the parents might holdWhat is the business with how the US issues citizenship to foreigners? Are we discussing US citizenship laws or those of South Africa? If you must urinate, please do so in one place and allow it to foam. If you so much prefer US nationality laws and policies, advise Chidinma to emigrate to the US and participate in its pageantry contests. |

siofra:That is not true. The laws were changed in 1995: https://www.gov.za/sites/default/files/gcis_document/201409/act88of1995.pdf Why do many Nigerians have an issue with facts and data? ![]() |

There is RACISM and there is HATE,south Africans and other Africa nations just hate us for no real reason, they claim that we are loud, too flamboyant, that we are engaged in crimes in their country but all that is just excuse for them to HATE us and mistreat us,so that is why anytime I read about a person of Nigerian origin always quick to pick sides with his/her country of birth rather than their country of origin,i just laugh, because they will eventually learn the hard way. |

Blazebond:They don't have the bravado Nigeria and Nigerians have. Despite our failures, I am proud of our history as a people. I don't waste my time with those who talk about bad things Nigerians do because how can you have met 10 million of us, not to say 70 or 100 million. Obasanjo said it, when we wake up, the African man around the World will be awake. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OEZpvyGnvAA?feature=shared

The thing that makes South Africans angry was that instead of Chidimma celebrating with fellow South Africans she chose to celebrate with strictly only Nigerians for her achievement. And that made South Africans think that she is a Nigerian.
