To come to think of it Kenya and Botswana sport ministry are way lower than ours. But corruption and mismanagement have eaten up our medals (just emergine a contingent of 2050 officials and 80 athletes)

That is why they call it medals 🏅table. A Table for countries with medal. I was surprised I couldn't find our country name on the list, it was then it dawned on me that our country had no medal hence the omission

Nigeria is a big mess in all sectors.

From NNPC, TO NEPA, TO CUSTOM, TO NAFDAC, NDLEA, SPORT ETC...
Corruption is just everywhere.

The main issue in the Sport is that, MOST OF THOSE ATHLETES ARE AMATEURS AND NOT QUALIFIED TO REPRESENT THE COUNTRY.

Most of them where selected based on connections: Children, relatives or fri of elites and people managing the sector in one way or the other.
People have talents and are qualified won't be given the opportunity UNLESS THEY KNOW SOMEONE OR CAN BRIBE THEIR WAY THROUGH.

THEIR FAILURE WILL FOREVER CONTINUE UNTIL THEY START DOING THE RIGHT THING.

Nigeria can only boost for three golds in their history of Olympics. Nigeria started participating in Olympics around 1952. So from 1952 till 2024 Nigeria can only boost of three golds, 11 silvers and 13 bronze. Which is very abysmal.
