Dangote played a gamble, an ill-conceived one, against all odds, and now, his reward is a Pyrrhic victory , a mockery of bravery. At a time when IOCs were selling off assets Dangote decided to plunge into a downstream that has been bedeviled by soulless corruption. Who made him the de facto industrial exorcist, perhaps his delusion or patriotism.

Tinubu could jail Emiefele unconstitutionally, Nnamdi Kanu, end subsidy, reverse policies, revoke standing contracts but cannot direct all upstream operators to provide a compulsory domestic quota of what they lift to Dangote.
