ceejayluv:How does that answer these questions? 1. does he have to adopt an elephant or do his job which entails producing policies and implementing same to protect endangered species? 2. how many elephants can he adopt that will make elephants in nigeria not to be endangered species? 3. can he not do job which entails providing resources and enlightenment to communities where elephants to inform them on the need to protect these animals? 4. which money is he using to adopt this his elephant? |

Ikpeabujo:But that doesn't mean that all the elephants should be left to die off na. Or are Nigerians not still buying pets - domestic or exotic - anymore? His ministry is not in charge of poverty alleviation. |

lexy2014:1. Yes it is part of his job 2. He cannot realistically adopt all elephants and this is unnecessary but the one he adopted was orphaned and would have died in the wild. 3. He can and that is what he has proposed to do in the article if you read it. 4. I am unsure, it depends on if this was done on a personal basis or on behalf of the ministry. If the former then he should use his personal funds if the latter then the ministry funds so far he has followed due process. I am very critical of government and think they are generally doing a shitty job but I don't think he has done wrong here. |

eaglechild:1. who asked you if anything is part of his job? does he have to adopt an elephant or do his job which entails producing policies and implementing same to protect endangered species? 2. how do know that the elephant he adopted would have died in the wild? do you know the circumstances of its existence while it was in the wild? if you say adopting elephants is his job, then you should know how many elephants can he adopt that will make elephants in nigeria not to be endangered species. should he also start personally adopting every endangered species in the wild? 3. you are talking of proposal. is his job a proposal? what does it mean to be in the executive arm of government? has he done his job which entails providing resources and enlightenment to communities where elephants are found to inform them on the need to protect these animals? 4. why are you unsure of the money he is using to cater for the adopted animal? what has it got to do with the ministry? i thought you sounded like you read the article? did the minister say anything about adopting elephant on behalf of the ministry? if he is using his personal money, where did he get the kind of money to cater for an elephant? |

Still today, it’s very unfortunate that some criminals continue to poach elephants. They need protection
