PALLIATIVES: LASG DISTRIBUTES ‘OUNJE EKO’ TO RELIGIOUS LEADERS IN LAGOS

In furtherance of its humanitarian intervention to cushion the effects of the harsh economy, the Lagos State Government, through the Ministry of Home Affairs, has commenced the distribution of 20, 000 food packs to Religious Leaders across the five divisions of the State.

Speaking to journalists during the presentation to Religious Leaders earlier today, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs, Mr. Adewunmi Ogunsanya stated that this action was a continuation of the State government’s intervention programme which cuts across all sectors in the State.

He noted that the Ministry has commenced the distribution of 20,000 food packs, which consist of 10kg Rice, 5kg Beans and 5kg Garri, to be given to all over 94 Associations of both the Christian Muslim communities in the State.

Ogunsanya explained that representatives of each religious group have been invited and they have started collecting the palliatives on behalf of the various associations.

According to the Permanent Secretary, the distribution has been decentralised so that 3000 packs of 'Ounje Eko’ will be distributed per day to each Religious body, adding that each division of the State will receive 500 packs each to be shared among its members.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Islam, Dr. Abdullahi Jebe hinted that the gesture from the State Government will go a long way to alleviate the effect of the present economic pressure on the religious communities, as food remains an essential part of man’s basic needs.

Similarly, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Christianity, Very Reverend Adebukola Adeleke noted that the State Government is sensitive to the plights of the Religious Leaders and their members, hence the need for the distribution of the food palliatives to assuage the high cost of food in the markets.

The distribution, which commenced today, Wednesday will continue till Tuesday, 20th August, 2024.

All this palliative distribution is going to solve nothing. What we need in the country is a lasting solution and not temporary.

Is Palliatives the solution now? Revolution is the only way out to end bad governance.

What's the difference between Nigerians on the streets and those in idp camps. Giving useless palliatives that will make no difference. Instead of showing us how to fish, they prefer giving us the fish on daily basis so that we'll remain perpetual beggars. Tueh!!!

Something that's not enough to go round... Instead of them to share it for Lagos state civil servants, like teachers in primary & secondary school, they're busy doing eye service...

Sanwo Olu is just clueless.

Stomach infrastruture seems to be next agenda on list. How many people can benefit from palliatives compare to focusing on building environment where people are engage in farming and build their own food security?

What will happen to all the farmlands of over 37,000 famers that Boko Haram has killed under the supervision of govt and international NGO?

Rubbish 🗑️. You give them rice and whatsoever which would last them a few days and when that finishes, what next? And I ask, what exactly is it that justifies these wicked people's stay in power? Subsidy on fuel, removed, subsidy on power, removed. Food is so expensive, people now eat grass and many able bodied men are running away from homes as they can't meet up with their responsibilities as breadwinners. Nigeria has the least life expectancy rating in the world. You either die of poverty as there is no food or you die traveling as all our roads have become death traps. Nothing to enjoy from a government that those in it continue to live extravagantly at the expense of the masses. The worst is, the most basic thing you are supposed to enjoy from government which is security is not guaranteed - it is either bandits, bokoharam, terrorists, hoodlums or armed robbers take an innocent life and life continues with those in government looking the other way. Shame! 😭😭😭😭😞😞😞

The government of Lagos is doing well, but they need a lot of refinement done on their staff.

Don't wait for theor food. Pull money out of church contribution and use it to provide for members. That is what d Apostles of our faith practised

Is this another knee jack one off reaction after which the people are on their own. Or is this a sustained help program designed to support the people for the long runhuh
