For Nigeria to have more medical professionals - doctors in particular - the government should establish a system where they will sponsor first degree best graduating students in Life Science courses, who still aspire to become medical doctors but don't have the financial capability to study the course. It is going to be a long-term plan that will benefit the country immensely. Of course, it will come with the condition that, after the study, they MUST practice here.
Our medical training is already subsidized.
Stop trying to solve problems from top down. You want to force people to stay rather than fix why they're leaving.

A simple google search will tell you how stupid your minister sounds.
Our leaders should learn how to talk so that these western countries will start taking us seriously.

Nigerian health workers (both doctors and nurses) are not even up to 10% of NHS work force.

Go and verify!
I didn't bother to Google anything, only if understand the bandits at the corridor of power you should just take the opposit of what they are saying

I am happy to hear that you work with the NHS.
Just to know; how many black people do you see around you at work? How many are Nigerians?
Are you aware Zimbabweans are as much or more than Nigerian nurses in the UK?

As a matter of fact, we have 36.3% of non-uk national doctors in the Uk. Indian doctors make up 8% and Nigerian doctors 2.0.

sad

Thing is, in all honesty, even if theres a pay rise in that sector, say 100% increase, it would still be far lower to what they're being paid in the UK

Presidency should meet the NMA and dialogue with them on what to do to reduce brain drain in that sector, cause as E dey go like this, na mortality rate don dey increase o
NM waiting? Those people are the real enemies of Nigeria Doctors.

‪Is your gut health the key to a prolonged lifespan? It is worth mentioning that 73% of adults ages 18–44 experience gut issue symptoms at least a few times a month. Additionally, the term “gut microbiome” seems foreign to 2 in 3 Nigerians. ‬

A typical non specialized medical doctor in the USA on average earns around $300k a year.

Their schooling costs around $300k for the whole program.

Wouldn’t you say it’s fair for Nigerian doctors to pay exactly the value of their annual salary for the whole duration of their training?

What we have are medical student who pay millions of naira throughout their education and end up earning peanuts. Why are you comparing the cost of training abroad to the cost of training in Nigeria when the income is unequal.

Where’s your common sense?
Your last question should be directed at your parents.

Tell the greedy doctors to go and train in USA and earn big money in USA. Nigeria's resources should not be used to train them for almost free and after training, they run to USA. Let them go and be trained in USA where they pay lots of dollars for training, they can thereafter work there and earn lots of dollars.

With your logic no one trained in Nigeria should be allowed to migrate since they have the potential to earn better than their Nigerian counterparts in the same field who paid the same “cheap fees” like they did.

Where’s this energy for your refinery thieves who have paid over 200 billion in salaries without providing a single ounce of usable gas & oil?
