This means his experiences are fake and I bet he is not as financially comfortable as he claims. Anyone who does business with him is in for big trouble.
Lmaooo...I smell envy and jealousy reeking off your post. Level up, will you?

A netizen shared his experience with Nigeria hawkers in Abuja. He was in a generous mood and decided to give back to the society. However, what his eyes saw during the whole exercise left him feeling weak and restless.

Two days ago I went out intending to give 5 random hawkers 20k each.

The plan was to first buy their products and then pay them plus extra 20k cash.

The first woman I met was at Utako Market.

Immediately I stopped by the ever busy market, the hawkers besieged my car with their products. The lucky woman I picked was selling African Pear in tiny baskets and each basket cost N1,000.

I asked her to give me 5 baskets. Each baskets had less than 10 pieces arranged inside.

Immediately she brought down her tray, I couldn’t see what she was doing from inside the car, so I turned on the car's 360-degree camera.

I watched as she emptied 3 baskets into the nylon bag instead of 5 baskets. She quickly tied the nylon and even raised her head to tell me she added two pieces of pears as Jara and then quickly opened the back door and dropped it there.

Instead of saying anything, I gave her 3k. She told me with an unbelievable audacity that her money was remaining 2k.

I looked at this woman, amazed by how such an old woman could tell such a petty lie with a straight face.

I pointed at the dashboard screen of my car and when she looked, she saw her tray on the ground and her legs. It was at that moment she knew she had f**ked up and she quickly left.

I drove up a little bit and called one of the boys hawking plantains. I pointed at the biggest one in his hand and we agreed 10k for it. I turned On my camera again and asked him to put it in the trunk of the car. Before he got to the trunk of the car he quickly switched the plantains and put the smaller one in the car.

When he came to collect his money, I asked him why he switched the plantains and he swore in the name of the God of his religion that he did not.

I went to the trunk of the car, brought out the plantain, handed it back to him, and drove off with my money back to the house. I have had enough of almost everyone wanting to rip everyone off.

When I got home, I sent the equivalent of the 100k to my mother’s bank account and had restlessness thinking about the dogs-eat-dogs mindset that has become a tradition in our society.

nothing i have not seen or experienced before. sympathy for the poor in nigeria is dangerous because they see you as an alakowe sucker to be fleeced. in the right circumstances, several of them will have no problem with murdering you for your money. whatever you think you have done for them in the past does not matter.

Poco has detailed some experiences she has had in the past when people she did business with regularly thought they had an upper hand and showed colour
"Alakowe sucker"... That cracked me up... cheesy grin

This one small tin nah. Sebi you see your money collect back. Have you ever experienced a petrol attendant shortchanging you? There are petrol stations I've marked in Lagos. Don't buy fuel at Conoil ikeja along (formerly national) and the one beneath it, when coming out of the local airport to hit the ikeja along road. Don't buy fuel at the FO Station at oba akran avenue and mobil opposite Guinness. If you must buy fuel there, just alight from your vehicle and watch until the last drop enters your vehicle. If you allow anyone to distract you or block your view while the other attendant is dispensing fuel, o ti rogo niyę. Na half fuel go get.

They'd also tell you they're pouring injector cleaner into your tank for a token. Before you pay for the injector cleaner, make sure you collect it from them and be sure it's intact and never been opened otherwise, na empty can dem go insert inside your tank. You go think say something dey pour inside. The day I caught them, they didn't believe their eyes. The attendant couldn't say pim. They were just begging.
Damn! That's on another level of fraud tbh.

Survival or wickedness added to greed and foolishness?

The man would have gifted 20k. The irresponsible woman lost the agreed amount and the unexpected windfall. If the man told her his real intention, she would be swearing at herself.

There are too many decent, honest and hardworking Nigerians everywhere you go, whose economic situation never diminishes their pride and integrity. Or do you not read in the news about those who were rewarded for return millions of Naira or dollars misplaced by their owners?

It is sad that some have allowed greed overtake their sense of reasoning.

If he did not have his camera on, they would have ripped him off, after his act of kindness. Yeye people!
you just voice my mind totally. That's why integrity is my watch word anyday.

Do more if you can
If there actually no one truthful go home with your money
Don't mind double minded people always looking for who to collect bribe and steal from, they always have a reason to do wickedness and latter blame government

Too bad some people are more wicked than the government we refuse

I hail your courage but I bet there are more truthful people too

One love

Crude as the method is, people are trying to survive. If you go round Nigeria looking for a Saint before you can help, I bet you, you won't find a single one. So just do what you must and let their conscientious judge them. That way, you would've taught them a lesson they won't quickly forget. None of us is truly righteous.

In my opinion he has thought them a good lesson they'll never forget.

Condoning such behaviors in the name of "no saint anywhere" is why we'll continue to go deep down into the abyss as a country.

Let those that have head to learn, learn, let those that don't want to learn, not learn

FYI, I DON'T envy anyone based on anything in life. I know what it is to make money and have seen how people progress in life. So, why should I envy someone I don't know? huh

I don't know what you think of me, neither do I care, but I don't envy people. I just find it odd that a man keeps conjuring funny looking stories when his income isn't dependent (presumably) on social media marketing. Solomon Buchi does the same - cho cho cho - every now and then, but at least Buchi earns money via such.

Me envy people? God forbid bad thing! Anything people have, I had such and will have them.

This is a prove that this country's redemption may lie far ahead as even we, the masses, are too corrupt. The impunity our leaders display is so because they are aware our division will not make us reason together and push for what is right.

Here is one of those people narrated in the encounter. They see nothing wrong in being criminal. Always ready to cheat at any given opportunity. They have totally lost their conscience in name of struggling to survive.
If all of us or most of us behave in this manner, then the country either breaks or we all go down together, which is what is currently happening. This is what everybody does, everywhere - Government, private sector, markets, streets, everywhere. Nigerians believe so much in being smart negatively and when the cumulative results overwhelm them, then they start shouting "God" and "President". They will even want to protest. Thieves are also protesting!
Upright Nigerians are fast going into extinction by the day, the rest are rogues. A man once said on TV - that population of Nigerians waiting to steal are way more than those currently stealing.
