Now he can talk about his Igbo ancestry. Now Jamaicans know they're Africans, but when they see a Nigerian or African abroad, they act like they grew out of the Caribbean soil...

Life...

You are right, our home states must be developed, and that's why it's annoying when I see Igbos claiming Yorubaland several states away from Igbo homeland. Let us be proud of our homelands even if our nation has past and present federal capitals grin lipsrsealed

How is this news?. Buju dey enter Nigeria wella dey vibe at Fela shrine. In fact, he is Nigerian first before jamaican, he spends most of his time here. He literally grew up in Fela's house horning his skills as a young guy. His cousin, Nneka also a raggae artists. These guys sing and promote their songs in nigeria. They live mostly in Nigeria.
He's Igbo before Jamaica.

As long as you're a Blackman
You're an African.

Tell that to the American akatas and they will vehemently disagree with you.

Your last sentence was very unpatriotic, otherwise I'd have given you a 'like'.

South Africans are Xenophobic and you shouldn't celebrate their action against Chidimma.

It is a symbol of Slavery. Even the word Igbo means slave and slaves are known to always fight for 'freedom'.
They are actually the greatest black tribe with rich history of bravery, beauty and boldness

It is a blessing to be born Igbo but many ill-informed riverine Igbos in Rivers and Delta states don't know this just because they are being deceived by Nigerian crude oil politics undecided

When crude oil finally loses its high economic value in the global market, our riverine Igbo brothers in Rivers and Delta states will realize the grave mistake they did denying their Igbo identity in the name of foolish Nigerian politics played by Hausa-Fulanis and Yorubas angry

Yeah, some of them may not want to identify with Africa, but it's an undisputable fact that they're of African roots.

Interesting how the Igbo Identity is a symbol of bravery, resistance and success
Stupid you!!

Bravery is not getting sold as a slave in the first instance.

Even a caged animal can escape!! Not getting caged should be celebrated.

If that’s kind of bravery you want to celebrate, shows u no get sense.

He is. Igbos went mostly to North Carolina, virginia, Boston, New York, Rhode island, Connecticut, Maine , all in the USA the great. This happened from the first year of American slavery. There were already igbo slaves in europe and Brazil, with the spanish and portugese.

One might say why the igbos, my theory and opinion, is that the igbos were fighting the arabs and their African associates, which is why is not many igbo slaves in Asia, india, and middle east, like say yorubas or northerners. Remember, these other tribes were traditionalist like the igbos then, but there were over powered by the arabs and some conquered Africans. Also, the type of fight against the arabs and their conquered blacks, was a type of fight that the igbos were familiar with, which was bow and arrow, hand tools, and hand to hand combat. The arabs used horses, which the igbos didn't see as a useful war tool, the igbos were gorilla fighters. Their feet touch the ground or they fight on trees, and other natural elements. Just like the other Africans in the east, central, and south africa, even some west Africans.

in the last 800 years, the igbos have fought the arabs, and then the europeans that came with guns and cannons. Also, the inter fighting against other surrounding tribes.

The igbos survived the trip in harsh conditions more than other non muslim tribes. The igbos were very populated, over 80 million then. Spread across africa. Igbos were fighting the arabs and pushing the line that even now, some of those igbo settlements have evolved to.other tribes in other parts of africa, from kenya to angola, to sa. Over 50 million igbos sold, died in the waters or detainment, etc.

The igbos were the farmers, very good metal forgers, very good hunters, very good with trees, very rugged willing warriors. So, the igbos use to go far and wide to defend themselves and africa all over Africa, until european slavery. Some of our real kings were kpaied by the europeans when they fiercely fought their way to any community, - they will kpai the king, and enslave his families, kpai or enslave his guards and the army of that area, then enslave the people, while they fought, the neighboring community will flee, knowing that the aggressors had weapons they couldn't figure out how to counter these weapons.

Not knowing how to figure out the attackers, the igbos resorted to fleeing, some who migrated couldn't come back, so, most were caught as slaves by either arabs, islamic africans, and europeans. These people blocked some of the igbos from coming back, so many of them had to band together, hide their identity, and then try to survive to the unknown future.

In the beginning of american and Caribbean history, especially Jamaica, Guyana, Barbados, and Trinidad. Matter of fact, the whole island, igbos were the most populated, remember how many times igbo speaking slaves kpaied their masters, organized themselves and moved to other islands, even from americas. In early 1800, Europeans started deliberately not selling slaves to people from the same area and language.

The 1400, 1500, 1600, igbo kings, had their families taken as slaves to the caribbeans and Americas. including the communities and armies, POWs.

In summary, buju didn't lie. Most of them are us by tribe, with others being igbo mix , snd other tribes in africa.

In 1923 or 28, when Nnamdi Azikiwe went did stow away to Ghana, thinking he was going to America, as he walked away from the port trying to figure out what next to do, he met some people discussing in igbo on the street, that is how he was guided and housed, and later became a police or traffic police there.

The igbo nation is truly unique and large. Our pains for almost 800 years, has become one of our valuable lessons in various aspects of life. Our shame has become some of our glory.

The igbo tribe is the largest tribe in Africa. In terms of one to one tribes. Of course, we are all Africans. And in 2000 years ago, the igbos were the igbos. I think the igbo tribe used to be called the bantu tribe, a little ove 2000 years ago. The igbos, bantu, are great people.
Igbos, the bantu are mostly jews.
