Interesting how the Igbo Identity is a symbol of bravery, resistance and success
So why is Kanu ... the leader ... is still held in prison? ... his tribesmen and militia not having the courage to at least try to break him out of prison but instead wage war on their own people. Is this bravery or cowardice? Let's think twice before blowing our trumpets especially when we don't like blow backs.

@ topic. The thing I admire about these reggae artists .. especially the Rastas ... is they don't hesitate to speak up on social issues in their music and interviews ... dropping names if need be. They don't even try to be politically correct as most of our artists. Buju and many others following the footsteps of Bob Marley ..... who we have following in the footsteps of Fela?

The very first day I landed in Jamaica, I was surprised at the strong similarity they have with Igbos and Delta people of Nigeria.

Yes, he fled from the British-led war and incursion into his land. Rightfully so.

Others were just tools inculding your tribe.. Go and read the Biafra: Britain's shame by Auberon Waugh, if you are in doubt..
Abeg you tribes men were stooges to the Portuguese during the civil war and you are still a stooge to a coward in far away Finland grin

Although a look at him might suggest the Mali-Senegalese African.

Buju Banton!!

Maximum respect!

Cheers to the Igbos!
Igbos had been all over Africa and (I dare say all over the world) since time immemorial.

I am currently researching the Adam and Eve story in the bible which led me to snake worship in ancient time and I came across this book written by a John Deane in 1833. When he talked about Snake worship in Whydah kingdom (today's Benin republic) he concluded that the people of Whydah got the practice from Eboes. In fact, he said that Igbos were addicted to snake and Iguana worship.

The Ooni of Ife is right when he said that Igbos used to live in Yorubaland in ancient time. I've been able to confirm that. The word "Igbo" in Yoruba (forest) most likely refers to a settlement of these people.

Buju Banton is right too. When the author talked about Jamaica, he said "from these two tribes (Igboland and Whydah) chiefly were the negros of Jamaica and the West Indian islands formerly taken, and the addiction of these people to Obeah worship is well known by melancholy memorials".

Igbos are like the ancient Mongols, they could travel very far away from their homeland. But they'll always go back home.

For those who may wonder how I know that John Deane was talking about the Igbos of today's Nigeria, he did mention in a foot note that the king of the Igbos was called "Obi" then as its called today (See attachment)

I've stumbled on something very significant but lack of resources won't let me get all the information I need to publish my book but what I can say right now with the information I have so far is that the Adam and Eve story in the bible originated from Anambra state. And in Whydah they called themselves "children of God" according to the author.

They were the first people that told that story but the information has been beaten out of our brains through many years of slavery, miseducation and colonialism

They are also having this believes that once you are not from Yoruba or Hausa you will be Igbo, wrong, it’s actually the then Bendel state, now Edo and Delta states that suffered the slave trade issues then

Stop sounding stüpîd in what you don't know.

Is Eze not King and Eze also teeth?
Is Eke not a market day and the same Eke is also a python? These are pronounced
differently.

We know each pronunciation make different meaning.
Check the documents shared. This is not a case of synonym. The word was written both ways. Its Igbo

Every black person was a slave. And that's why you have them all over Americas.

Don't be so sad about the Igbo tribe been associated with bravery.
The best you can do is to come as Igbo your next life rather than crying over people's good news.

Many families in the Carribean, Cuba and Brazil actually have documents of their origin dating back hundreds of years as well as generational oral history. In Cuba for example despite the rarity of Igbo language the families know their roots through the Carabali of their parents.
