Nahhh he was good for Benfica. Very good. Him and Florentino Luis formed one of the most formidable midfield partnerships in Portugal, and dare I say in Europe at the time, even though it was short lived. I was singing his praises even before the world cup began. He was named Portuguese league midfielder of the month for like three months if I remember correctly. Most of these complaints did not exist under Potter/Lampard. In fact, many people were saying he would go on to justify his price tag. He finished second in the voting for the club's player of the season, despite arriving in January.

All these problems we see now started at some point last season. I thought he was going to light up the league after that masterclass against Liverpool, but asides some fantastic performances here and there, it's been a shambles.
