During the month of July 2024, Nigeria experienced a massive surge in forex remittance inflows, reaching a total $553m. According to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), this is a 130% rise over the corresponding period of 2023 and is the highest monthly inflow on record. In a statement released Tuesday 20 August 2024 by Hakama Sidi Ali, CBN’s acting Director of Corporate Communications, it said the increase is a consequence of ongoing efforts by CBN to enhance liquidity in Nigeria’s foreign exchange market.
