The Simon Ekpa-led Biafra Republic Government In-Exile has alleged that the Nigerian government has concluded plans to sever diplomatic ties with the government of Finland.

Ekpa made the claims in a statement on his official X handle on Thursday.

His claim is coming a few days after the Finnish government spoke on legal proceedings involving Ekpa.

Finland’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Elina Valtonen, who spoke after a meeting between Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, and the foreign ministers of Sweden, Finland, Iceland, as well as representatives from Norway and Denmark, said Ekpa’s case was being handled through Finland’s judicial system, which operates strictly by the rule of law.

The Nigerian Government has been pursuing attempts aimed at extraditing Ekpa to the country.

Reacting to the development, the Biafra agitator, who is based in Finland, said the latest move comes amid several failed attempts to seek his extradition.

“The Nigeria state has run out of options and ideas that they have concluded to close the Finnish embassy in Abuja and cut ties with Finland.

“Finland will have a better future with the emerging state of Biafra than whatever the Nigeria state can offer.

“Norway closed their embassy in Nigeria long ago; their Embassy is now in Ghana, they lose nothing but the burden of sorting fake and forged documents relieved”, he claimed.

Ekpa had recently alleged of a fifth attempt to assassinate him in Finland.

I think it is only Finland that will gain, they won't break their rules because of Nigeria. We don't have anything that Finland needs from us. Ekpan is a complete idiot we all know that but to think you can threaten Finland is just nothing but foolish.
We need people who understand international relations, because it looks like only foolish people are occupying that position in this Nigeria. Ekpan is a Finish citizen whether you like it or not, judge in Europe will hand him over to Nigeria with Kanu still in detention. What both of them are fighting for is not a crime yet anywhere in the world apart from Nigeria. A whole America could not get or extradite Assange from UK because the court said NO. The government of UK didn't do nothing to convince the court unlike Nigerian court.

Nigerian govt should prove IPOB wrong by organising a referendum that will allow SE vote if they want to stay in Nigeria or not. I guess we already know what the outcome of such referendum would be.

U mean, U expect the President to come out of nowhere to conduct a referendum?

Nah. It would look like he wanted them to leave and that would reinforce the claims that he had issues against the SE. He's the President of a country for godsake

Your NASS members should move the motion in the house.

The SE has over 500 politicians holding one position or the other, if none of them has the liver to do this, then dont push the responsibility to the President
