I live in Austria and also have Austrian citizenship but Nigerian roots. I booked a flight for end of October and wanted to apply for tourism visa. the Nigerian embassy in Vienna wrote me this  when I tried to get an appointment "We regret to inform all visa applicants that the embassy has run short of Visas stickers. Your travel date should be moved to a further date."
And on the website they wrote that a visa on arrival would be possible, but you only get that if you need a business visa. My father has a hotel in Nigeria and also rents out apartments. I could say that I visit to invest in the hotel, come dor business meetings and want to help with renovations.  He got a CAC, but if you check for the status its inactive. Will they automatically reject my visa due to this or do i have a chance of it going through. Thanks.

If you are a Nigeria citizen as you claim , why not get yourself a Nigeria Passport

I tried but they said i cant have both passports after the age of 18 because Austrian government dont allow it. The embassy people are very stubborn, i told them its not true you can habe two citizenships if you have them since birth. They dont even know Austrian laws, its ridiculous. My old nigerian passport is expired since more than 10 years. The last two times i went to nigeria were through tourism visa.

I don't know what to tell you, I am not familiar with Australia to know their policy on dual citizenship, but I don't think anyone should stop you from getting the passport of your root ...but since their Visa Stickers have finished their is nothing I can do, not sure they have designated ambassadors yet after one year in leadership.

you can ask any of your family members in nigeria to help with an active CAC or contact travelbeta or other top agency that helps with visa on arrival to help you
