My dad in the 1980s was middle class working for John Holt those days and our parlour was 100 times more beautiful than this. We had air conditioning in all our rooms, full wall to wall rugs, wall paintings you name it.
Oshey! Haco, Cardbury, Ventures, Holt Engineering. My Dad worked for John Holt too. Those days were very lit, I dey tell you.

You are wrong, this setting is for a middle class of that era not the rich
OP was perceiving middle class civil servants in his villa as rich and wealthy.

Lol, I know rich people from that era and they did not live in this, they lived in mansions. Even saw a baby grand piano in a friend's sitting room I visited as a kid.

Rich men from this era built better mansions than rich men of today. I mean large houses not the dwarf duplexes people build today.

This is a very normal house.
Most of those houses are now liabilities for the heirs those rich men left behind. They're too expensive to maintain or renovate for rentals.

The responses will reveal how old each person is and for those who were alive back then, whether they ever entered a rich man's house back then.

FYI, this was not a rich man's house in the 80's or 90's

OP either never entered a rich man's house back then or he wasn't even born

There were no plasma tvs at the time this was considered a rich man's parlour
Thank you jare...no such TVs then.

Classy for that era, sure a neat, finicky perfectionist, but this is someone stuck in the past in terms of interior decoration

How many rich men in Nigeria or even Europe and North America had a computer in their home? I mean DOLLAR MILLIONAIRES. Let's not even talk of one linked to the internet?

This here is a very important economic lesson for everyone. How and why can an average person today afford something the richest people couldn't have in 1980?

Good Luck to Nigeria.
In the 80s and 90s most computers were running in DOS
Where there are no graphics but just texts until the early 90s when we had windows 3.1
Back then a client traded his car for a desktop.

I don't think this was a rich man's living room o. It looks more like an average man's living room. Like the landlord of a slum

Righteousness2:
Thats life for you.
Vanity upon Vanity all is vanity!
What many killed themselves for in those days is a load of scrap today.

Listen! Everything we own and see around, they do not really Matter.
All the great Mansions, posh automobiles and so on that we own and want to acquire by all means, they do not really matter.
Nobody will take a pin From here to Eternity.
We came Here Na.ked, we will leave here Nak.ed.

Do not kill yourself because you want to acquire this or that or because you dont have this or that.
Handle the things of this life with Very Light Hands else they will deceive you, destroy you and land you in Hell.

Strive to get What really Matters.
The Genuie Salvation of your soul is what really Matters. It is Only available through JESUS CHRIST.
A poor man comforting himself.

This looks too dirty for 90s. Bedbugs’ hive.
By 90s, leather seats in granite-style tiled sitting rooms, with slide glass doors leading to verandas or balconies were popular for flats.
This is far from the 90s wealthy interior look.
