Sven-Goran Eriksson: Former England manager dies aged 76

Former England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson has died at the age of 76.

Eriksson had pancreatic cancer and at the beginning of the year revealed he only had a year to live "at best".

The Swede became the first foreign manager of the England men's football team in 2001, coaching the so-called "golden generation" of players including David Beckham, Steven Gerrard, Wayne Rooney and Frank Lampard.

During his career, he managed a string of high-profile European clubs such as Benfica, Roma, Fiorentina, Sampdoria and Lazio.

Eriksson left the England role after the 2006 World Cup and would later manage Mexico and the Ivory Coast, as well as English clubs Manchester City and Leicester City.

Due to his health issues, he stepped down as sporting director at Swedish club Karlstad in February 2023.

After announcing his cancer diagnosis, Eriksson was granted his lifelong wish when he led out Liverpool Legends, as they played in a charity match against Ajax at Anfield in March.

He described that moment as "absolutely beautiful" and a "huge memory" in his life, with Liverpool winning the game 4-2.

I saw his farewell message last week telling all former England Managers to keep enjoying the game while he's gone

He said it there that he'll be dead before the end of the month and i thought its a joke

See as cancer just dey waste peoples lives short and cut them in their prime and yet some ignoramus will call it "big man disease" say na only big man dey get am.however my suspicion is that most of the food we consume in nigeria even the ones you go to to the market to buy yourself and cook in your house has been infiltrated or poisoned by chemicals used in preserving food stuffs.you know,doctors will say don't eat canned food,don't eat sugar,don't wear a particular lipstick that has led ingredients in it,don't eat to much sugar foods and take soda drinks so how we go take do am? Unfortunately Nigerians don't like good leaders.na sociopaths, wicked and selfish leaders dey like.the last nafdac chairman late prof Dora akinyuli used her life to fight doggedly to ensure drugs and food products brought into the country were Safe and healthy for consumption Unfortunately some unreasonably selfish people decided that she was their enemy and used every way to attack her.i heard she too died of cancer, I can't remember in details but some person's were speculating that she was attacked spiritually. So as it is Now we no know wetin the current head of nafdac dey do and how well he's ensuring safety practices and protecting the lives of Nigerians through ensuring what is brought to nigeria is safe for consumption but in all sha because as it stands nigeria has no leader make everybody dey pray and call the God he knows.

For those who are Christians, the time of playing church is over.this is the time to be a real Christian in spirit and in truth and know your God. All this my church better pass your church, my pastor better pass your pastor rubbish fight should stop.take your spirituality seriously. The times are evil.juju people no dey even hide their juju again.them dey bring am out for broad day light so there's no reason for you not to hold God tight. Wickedness has Increased, some Nigerians don't mind wasting a whole community even if it means selling fake drugs and adulterated products so long as it will make them millionaires.

Gross darkness has pervaded the earth. Men are now lovers of themselves than lovers of God,men's heart has become cold and deadly. Only few have conscience and empathy

Note that I'm speaking in the Nigerian context as it relate to Nigerians o before some mannerless people Starr entering my mention to type like them no get home training

One of the best deaths ever, he was fully aware his time was up, had ample time to do farewell and set his house in order.

I wish it was possible to know always possible to know when when one's time is up.

RIP Eriksson I remember him leading the golden generation of England always doing well in friendlies and qualifiers but never replicating it in the main competitions proper.
He has been sick for a while and a lot of his former players and friends had the opportunity to bid him goodbye before dying

The precision with which the West predicts natural occurences such as life, weather etc is top notch.

And we have someone in Naija proclaiming that until the young ones clock 18 years before they should be allowed to write WAEC and JAMB exams
