For instance, I'm a practicing Muslim and I have never come across where it's stated that other faiths should be killed or treated unjustly.

That's a lie, Christians in South East are not hostile to average northerner.
There are many Northerners in the SE living peacefully without any issues their host communities. There are no hostility between the northerners came and the SE except for when they want to act like werey then we show them werey pro Max and everybody go dey well.

Northerners have the most wicked leaders in this country and northerners are religion brain control people if not terrorism would have ended in that region since

As long as the federal government dose not pass the law for self defence where by every mentally stable person upon medical evaluation and he or she is cleared by a certified medical professional as mentally stable and approve for a gun license I e pistol, for self defence once you above the age of 21 in Nigeria so everybody can have a fighting chance when such situation happens. Then and only then will all this kidnapping or bandictory or the called ISIS will stop in Nigeria.
Untill then our leaders are not ready and they don't value the life of every Nigerian citizen and this is what tinubu should be doing that sleeping on national TV calling himself president because he ain't doing shit that's I see as a so called president.
