500 Pupils Forced To Share Learning Space With Animals In Kano School by MasterJayJay(op):
Over 500 Pupils Reportedly Forced To Share Learning Space With Animals In Kano School Over Dilapidated Classrooms

This has created an environment that is not only hindering the learning process but also poses a substantial threat to the well-being and safety of the students.

About 523 students of the Government Junior Secondary School, Karfi, in Takai Local Government Area of Kano State are reportedly being forced to share a classroom with animals due to the poor state of infrastructure in the school.

Recent strong winds have caused significant damage to the school, blowing off the roofs of several classrooms.

This has created an environment that is not only hindering the learning process but also poses a substantial threat to the well-being and safety of the students.

Alarming photos shared by Monitng, a prominent civic tech platform, on X (formerly Twitter) reveal the dire state of the school, where animals are seen roaming freely alongside hundreds of students in the same classrooms.

Monitng wrote: “SHOCKING!! Dear Gov @Kyusufabba. This is the DILAPIDATED state of Government Junior Sec School, Karfi, Takai LGA, Kano State, where students share a classroom with animals. Over 523 students are forced to learn in this deplorable condition after strong winds blew off the roof.”

Nigeria is facing a severe education crisis, with a staggering 18 million children currently out of school and many more at risk of dropping out.

The country is grappling with a nationwide issue of dilapidated classrooms, with numerous schools lacking essential facilities and resources.

A recent example highlights the severity of the situation, where 96 pupils at the LEA primary school in Kigbe, Abuja, were found sitting on the floor during lessons due to inadequate seating.

This incident, reported by SaharaReporters just last month, underscores the urgent need for attention and action to address the country's educational infrastructure challenges.

This situation in FCT also exposed by Monitng. The group demanded immediate intervention of the FCT minister, Nyesom Wike and the serving Senator of the Federal Capital Territory, Ireti Kingibe.

The post reads: “Dear @GovWike & @IretiKingibe Inside Abuja School Where Pupils Sit On Bare Floor.

“A local authority school located in LEA primary school Kigbe community Kwali Area Council FCT Abuja. Where over 96 pupils sit on bare floors in their classrooms to learn.”

That's what you get in a country where you prioritize subsidizing pilgrimages over education

COMRADES, Nigeria is rotten

APC has destroyed our image before the international communities, since both Tinubu and Buhari don't know the value of education, they preferred subsidising religious activities, encouraging Almajiri to beg in the streets to education. Nigeria is finished!

What a shame

.. that's quite unfortunate. But it would have been abated or drastically prevented if quality materials were used when building those schools. Private people build houses that last long and stay strong even after 30, 40, 50 years. But any structure built by our government, some no dey even reach 5 years before they collapse or dilapidate. The roofing and ceiling of those classrooms look so terrible. shocked shocked I feel sorry for those kids, chai! You can't provide quality learning in this environment na! Kids of their age are already learning coding in advanced countries. SMH
