Totally agree with Baba Obasanjo. This present government wants to implement IMF policies that many developed countries wisely have refused to consider. See where we are. Cost of doing business is extremely high. I sometimes pity my customers and clients when they groan under the new service regime that I have in place to remain afloat. It's not my fault I always let them know. Cost of fuel and exchange rate are the determinants |

HydraFeeds:Firstly let me start with the basics, they have 24 hours light, they have good and better roads and accessibility for production and delivery process, they have more stable economy or why do you think different manufacturers have shut down in Nigeria of recent? They also have better security to produce in cases like Agriculture , they don't have to bribe from check point to check point just to deliver their goods and raw materials, they don't have to produce their own power, they give them very high incentives as support ranging from finances, subsidies and so on. This one below is just one if the benefits for Tesla, I can bring more if you need and even for other companies. The rest of the things you wrote are all political issues and happens everywhere, even in Nigeria especially when the issue is not support of their national interest...

Brendaniel:companies also enjoy subsidies in Nigeria ,same as grants and loans . Therefore we can’t consider this a special support only enjoy by foreign companies in their own countries. The social amenities available in these foreign countries were made available by their leaders (not limited to governments alone) . For instance ,Faraday invented electricity,Ford invented diesel engine etc . These are what their government built on . Also ,political leaders are gotten from the people ,while people like Washington chased out the British with guns ,our leaders like Awolowo chased out the British with pen . Political issues happen everywhere in the world but each level has its own distinctive challenges and our challenges is that we are not doing enough in Nigeria and Africa as a whole and a lot of people that should work for the country greatness are running to another man’s land that was built by another man . Security challenges is everywhere in the world and it’s not an excuse for people not to work ,Ukraine is at war but still selling grains to other countries including Nigeria . |
| Re: Africa’s Poverty Not An Act Of God — Obasanjo by Brendaniel: 8:51am On Aug 27, 2024 |
HydraFeeds:You are still going round in circles, the government played major roles in supporting those companies in becoming what they are today, then for the basic amenities I mentioned how many has the Nigerian government even gotten right in its own responsibility as a government to provide those amenities or are you saying the private companies abroad provided all the basic amenities for themselves and the people? You think if Ukraine was still at developing stage like Nigeria and they went into war the story will be the same? |
| Re: Africa’s Poverty Not An Act Of God — Obasanjo by cocolacec(m): 8:52am On Aug 27, 2024 |
HydraFeeds:The solution is work with investments i.e earning money whole sleeping. The govt also needs to introduce social benefits for all classes of people. |
| Re: Africa’s Poverty Not An Act Of God — Obasanjo by HydraFeeds(m): 9:03am On Aug 27, 2024 |
Brendaniel:Which circles ? US for instance is a capitalist system like Nigeria and whatever support any capitalist got from the government is minimal compared to what he has done for himself . Musk for instance didn't achieve his success because of government subsidies but that doesn't mean he doesn't enjoy US government policies,my point is that these policies were made by people like you and I that will go out there and become politician that become elected . Therefore the IQ of these leaders are gotten from a pool of citizens IQ and their policies are a responsibility of our reality . Ukraine is still a developing country with bad economy and one of the lowest standard of living and GDP in Europe . This justify my point that most Nigerians will rather complain and pass blame rather than work . I can't imagine I live in a community where Fulani herdsmen are eating their farms and killing the villagers without doing anything to protect my assets but come online or to the news to cry always when there are many things to be done to beat them . |

Spot on OBJ. People like Enoch Adeboye of Redeem Christian Church of God are duplicitous characters and a fraudulent religious leader. Claiming Nigeria's problem is spiritual is gross deception. The same foolish man led protests against Jonathan, is it that he didnt know that time that Nigeria's problems were spiritual and not political? Useless old man! |

| Re: Africa’s Poverty Not An Act Of God — Obasanjo by HydraFeeds(m): 9:35am On Aug 27, 2024 |
Brendaniel:depending on my position in the village . If I’m to protect myself alone ,I will apply chemicals to kill any animals that graze on my land ,or set traps everywhere that will injure any animal that graze on my farm . If it’s a big farm ,I can do wire fence that can be electrified by night . I will mount cctv camera to see what’s going on in my farm ,I can hire vigilante to monitor the farm . I can rally round other youths to form vigilante group if I don’t have the capacity to deploy second paragraph measures . If I’m the village head ,it’s either I don’t have Fulani settlements around my village ,banish any Fulani that led his cattle ti graze on any farms or seize such cattle or make them pay fine . If it turns ti ear ,all the youth will buy weapons and take the fight to their settlements and raze them. |

Our problems as Africans are beyond us, Africans are a cursed race if you must know, other races will always be ahead of us,I'm proudly African but this truth I've known, and one thing is if you know your problem then you can find a solution to it,but if you argue you don't have a problem when it's glaringly clear then you'll always remain in the dark. HydraFeeds:You see why you don't sound quite realistic... You are using a whole lot of assumptions. 1. So you will destroy your entire farm you spent money to invest just to kill cows that graze on your farm. 2. Do you know how much it will cost you to do wiring fence plus CCTV plus hiring vigilante to monitor your farm which is still not a guarantee that they will not attack as we have seen them kill vigilantes which were even protecting villages and farms, do you think about the investment in your farm and how much you will sell the produce? And you also think all farmers have that kind of money to invest in their farming and even if they do would that not raise the price of foods ? 3. You want to form vigilante groups which is good but it has proven not really work over time because so many villages and communities have done that and they still killed them and their people, if you need stories I can provide for you, even when a whole Amotekun that is sponsored with bigger allocations also have failed to curb them, also it has also be proven that when the military begins to find out that such vigilantes start to u have upper hand against the herdsmen, they come in and fight the villagers, there is even one they flogged the king of the village in Ogun state for fighting the herdsmen... 4. You said if you are the village head, what if you are not the village head, you think all farmers will have to be village heads to have a successful faming and also do you think village heads have not attempted what you are planning, why do you think army flogged the Oba? 5. You say the youths will buy weapons and take them to the settlements to dislodge them, was that not what Igboho was doing that the government went after him and killed his people and even jailed him in Benin republic? Look at how you guys reason, ask yourself, is this what farmers are going through in other countries like USA Canada and so on just to produce food? Do you even need to go through all these just produce food when the president can give just on executive order banning open grazing and all the security agencies will enforce it and farmers will farm in peace... Look at the way you guys reason just to defend rubbish, and even going as far as insulting your fellow Africans just to defend nonsense leaders in power and their type of governance, like I said earlier it is people like you that contribute to why Africa is the way it is.... Is askng for good governance a crime ?

oroje1:Big lie, if you are cursed I'm not, what I just see here is wickedness, I mean how can someone support a leader just because of tribal or religious supremacy not even because of he will benefit money or good governance, isn't that wickedness, nothing like curse here.... |
| Re: Africa’s Poverty Not An Act Of God — Obasanjo by HydraFeeds(m): 10:20am On Aug 27, 2024 |
Brendaniel:1) chemicals that kill animals don’t destroy plants . 2) solar cctv is around 150k ,it’s a long term investment and will be calculated with other capitals . Vigilante will serve as deterrent as there will be directives not to engage but to call for back up ,even in developed countries like USA ,they still used vigilantes. 3) there’s difference between fighting and seeking media attention ,in as much as someone like Igboho acted bravely ,he seeks media validation more than the real job and he’s digressing to Yoruba nation ,which no FG will support. Amotekun wins is more than their losses. 4) I’ve stated earlier that it depends on my position and that position is only for if I’m the village head . That soldiers escorted herdsmen to flog village head doesn’t mean the same soldiers won’t escort village heads to flog herdsmen ,it boils down to how much you’re willing to pay and the people you know . 5) Igboho wasn’t attacked because he was attacking Fulani herdsmen but because of his separatist tendencies. if you consider reality insulting then you have a long way to go . Nigeria history for instance,if you can mention one thing that’s world class and it’s accepted globally in our history then I will agree that my initial comment is insulting . In US ,they face different challenges as well and most farmers have guns. Today ,I still watched a video of a U.S. farmer using stick to destroy a drone sent by his neighbor to his farm. My comments have not defended and government policies or praise politicians,I simply encourage people to work harder and smarter for their own good because no one is coming to save them ,if you think otherwise, you must be suffering from PTSD. |

madridguy:What is the correlation with what Obasanjo said and your baseless allegations? You cannot be an adult and reason this way, you talk like someone with an immature brain, infact, like a toddler most times, If you are a parent how are you supposed to raise a kid with this very shallow thinking of yours? The moment I come across distorted and offpoint comment I quickly check the moniker of the commenter and in most cases it is you that said the rubbish. You have earned a reputation on nairaland of always saying nonsense..what a shame.

Hmmm, wonders shall never end indeed. As I was reading through I was wondering if truly this was Obasanjo or someone from a new-foundland. Is God not wonderful, that people suddenly grew wings and can fly from their real self and character the moment they're off the grid and shores where their garbage is righteously waiting for them. Can any one on earth ever predict that OBJ would one day sweet mouth other Africans this way, when in actual fact he left the Ota road (Sango+Ota, even if for the sake of his poultry farm workers) worse than he met it as President for 8 solid years. But today, he's somewhere thanking one Nyong'o. Indeed, the black man needs to be restructured, not just adjusted. madridguy: |
