USE YOUR DAMN HEAD.

OUR FIRST POWER PLANT WAS BUILT IN 1964 - FOUR YEARS AFTER INDEPENDENCE.

The British came here to LOOT.

They built NOTHING in their 80 year rule.

Point to ONE infrastructure you see around you that was built by the British.

The WHOLE Nigeria was a BUSH when they left in 1960.

In South Africa it was DIFFERENT.

VERY DIFFERENT.

The colonialists regarded it as 'THEIR COUNTRY', and invited their people to settle there in droves, due to the temperate climate, no heat, no mosquitoes, no malaria etc.

THEREFORE, they did NOT loot the economy and siphon all export profits to Europe, as they did in other black territories like Nigeria.

Because in case you've forgotten, the VERY REASON for colonisation is to loot your economy for the benefit of the coloniser. So calling for them to rule you is the height of imbecility.

So by the 1860s in South Africa, they had built the first POWER PLANTS AND UNIVERSITIES, AND EVEN ENGINEERING INSTITUTES.

By the 1920s they had over 10 universities!

Nigeria's first university was established in 1960, the year of Independence!

By the 1930s, Johannesburg was a fully developed, world class city.

Lagos only began serious growth in the 1970s.

So STOP COMPARING NIGERIA TO SOUTH AFRICA.

They began their modern development, including the development of their modern institutions such as the judiciary, at least a CENTURY before Nigeria.

That is why they are where they are.

That is why no other African country is like them - their colonial invaders did not loot their economy.

No other reason.

But Nigeria is catching up.

Only a matter of time. wink

Could we say our founding fathers are worst selfish pushing Nigeria to independent? The truth is, if south African had attained independent in 1960,i can bet they wouldn't have had these development and probably end up like other black African countries that's struggling.
The Ingenization and nationalisation policy in post independent days in Nigeria ensure all companies are handed over to greedy Nigerians that lack the expertise at that time. There were massive industries to the agricultural value chain Industry to the textile industry, to the shoe and leather industry to the cocoa industry to almost everything.

One things is certain, if our Independence had come in 1990s, some certain things would have been in place and more white would have filled our Nigeria street. Probably we would have many mixed race than ever as found in cape Verde.
TRUTH.

250 billion rand is 23 trillion naira.

They are killing us in this country. Unfortunately, they will continue to destroy this country because they know we are divided along ethnic and religious lines.

Our elected politicians are some of the highest paid in the world, yet nothing to show for the work they are being hugely paid for.

If you have an opportunity, leave this country.

..south Africa getting their development right..putting in money that leads to progress & development..In just a span of 2_3 yrs..they succeeded in adding almost 3000MW to their existing generating power..almost what Nigeria currently generates since over 40yrs.. grin grin

..while a president who did not snatch & grab is effectively creating opoortunities for his country men & women...Thief'nubu is looting funds meant for development ...roasting electricity with a fraudulent down payment..

..where is that toutish incompetent Minister of power who was appointed because he is a Yoruba man..whose only solution to improve the power is to tell citizens to off their AC's & refrigerator.. cheesy

..Allah must punish Thief'nubu..insha allah..

grin grin grin
Look I'm an Igbo. This is not how to hate. Hate with reason. How much have successive governments up till now invested into power? Obasanjo spent billions of dollars on electricity, what came out of it. Atiku privatized nepa and sold it to his friends and it became worse. The only clear legislative roadmap to improve power came during buhari's regime.

The regime that you are calling names, have they invested a quarter of what obasanjo invested and you didn't get results?

Please hate responsibly.

YOU ARE AN UTTER DISGRACE.

Why don't you go and bleach your skin since there are no white people around you, you self-hating cretin?

THE ONLY REASON YOU CAN READ AND WRITE TODAY IS BECAUSE BLACK PEOPLE CAME TO POWER IN 1960.

WE GOT INDEPENDENCE IN 1960, following which thousands of public schools were built across the nation, by THE BLACK GOVERNMENT.

The British built NO PUBLIC SCHOOLS.

There was just a tiny handful of ''missionary schools'' set up by their priests.

AT INDEPENDENCE, after 60 YEARS of British rule, Nigeria's Literacy Rate was 5%.

YOUR GRANDPARENTS WERE VILLAGE ILLITERATE PEASANTS FOR A REASON.

The BRITISH LOOTED YOUR ECONOMY.

Today, Literacy Rate is 75% and climbing, courtesy of BLACK RULE.

Nigeria's FIRST power plant was KAINJI DAM, commissioned by the Balewa administration in 1964.

The BRITISH had used imported industrial generators to power their GRAs like Ikoyi.

THE REST OF Nigeria used CANDLES until independence.

So if the British had stayed longer, you would be 100 TIMES BEHIND WHERE YOU ARE TODAY.

One thing you white-worshipping CRETINS need to understand is that the VERY REASON for colonisation is to loot your economy for the colonising country's benefit.

They didn't loot South Africa because they regarded it as 'their' country and settled there en masse due to the temperate climate. So they actually built infrastructure with the export earnings from at least the 1860s!!

THAT is why South Africa is developed today and other African countries are developing.

We want uninterrupted grid power at cheap tariff, ask an average South African household how much they spend on electricity monthly. When we are ready for cost reflective tariff then we should be expecting improved power supply. Without the right tariff, the power sector won't attract meaningful investment. WannaHowzit:
South Africa has gone 150 consecutive days without any planned power outages, the state power utility Eskom said at the weekend.

This milestone marks a dramatic turnaround from over a year ago when South Africa was plagued by persistent and record load shedding (planned powercuts) that disrupted daily life, inflated food prices and eroded investor confidence.

“The recovery plan has not only made Eskom’s power stations more reliable but has also demonstrated enhanced efficiency,” the state-owned power utility said.

The turnaround began with the appointment of Kgosientsho Ramokgopa as the country’s first-ever electricity minister in March 2023, a role created in response to the escalating energy crisis.

Alongside this, the government injected about R250-billion (N23-trillion) into Eskom to stabilise the utility as well as appointing Dan Marokane as its permanent CEO in December.

The rand has responded well to the development after ending 2023 as one of the few emerging market currencies with losses versus the dollar.

Its fortunes have been boosted by the improvement in electricity supply along with a coalition government that’s considered market friendly after the May election.

The currency has gained 3.7% in the year to date and trades at about R17.70/$.
23 trillion investment into power....our own govt will rather invest into national assemby payments

Having realized this on time, what then on earth prompted our leaders to go into looting competition with their looters colonizer?
Is it not the height of stupidity for us as the owner of the land to know that the invaders came only to loot us dry and when we finally gained independence from them,we are now the same people looting our resources back to the same White man's land to continue to develop their land while ours is left in abject poverty and perpetual underdevelopment?
Who do us this kind thing?
I considered the White strangers who refused to develop our country for more than a century they have colonized us a lesser evil to our indigenous leaders who have the opportunities and enormous resources right from 1960 till date to develop this country but choose to loot it dry without a single sign of development.
