Let’s learn about the agricultural seasons in Nigeria together! Make sure you read to the end; it’s very educative. The weather greatly affects farming, knowing the seasons can help you grow more food and reduce risks. There are two main seasons in Nigeria: the rainy season and the dry season.

Rainy Season (April to October)
The rainy season is when we get a lot of rain, which is very important for growing crops. This season is divided into two parts:
- Early Rainy Season (April to June): During this time, you can plant crops like maize, cassava, yam, and rice. The rain helps seeds to sprout and plants to start growing.
- Peak Rainy Season (July to September): In these months, heavy rains continue, helping crops to grow strong and healthy.

Dry Season (November to March)
The dry season has little to no rain and is also divided into two parts:
- Early Dry Season (November to January): This is when you harvest crops like maize, rice, and millet. The dry weather helps to dry and store the harvested crops.
- Late Dry Season (February to March): Since there's no rain, we use irrigation to water crops. This is a good time to grow vegetables and cash crops like tomatoes and onions using irrigation.

Regional Differences
Different parts of Nigeria experience these seasons differently:
- Northern Nigeria: Here, the rainy season is shorter (June to September) and the dry season is longer. Farmers often use irrigation to grow crops throughout the year.
- Southern Nigeria: This area has a longer rainy season (April to October) and a shorter dry season. You can grow several crops a year due to the longer rainy period.

If you understand these seasons, you can plan better when to plant and harvest.
