There's a huge difference Jasbi:Cryptocurrency and gambling share HUGE differences but they have distinct differences: Differences: Cryptocurrency: 1. Decentralized digital currency 2. Stored in digital wallets 3. Used for transactions, investments, and storage of value 4. Regulated by blockchain technology 5. Can be used for legitimate purchases and investments Gambling: 1. Wagering on uncertain outcomes (e.g., sports, casino games) 2. Typically involves betting against a "house" or other players 3. Primarily entertainment-focused 4. Often regulated by government agencies 5. No inherent value or utility beyond entertainment Key differences: 1. Purpose: Cryptocurrency aims to facilitate transactions and store value, while gambling is primarily for entertainment. 2. Risk management: Cryptocurrency investors manage risk through research and diversification, whereas gambling involves accepting chance. 3. Regulation: Cryptocurrency regulation varies globally, whereas gambling is heavily regulated. Grey areas: 1. Predictive markets (e.g., Augur) 2. Blockchain-based gaming (e.g., cryptocurrency-based poker) 3. Initial Coin Offerings (ICOs) with speculative characteristics |

As the MD and HR, I would consider the following factors before making a decision: Concerns: 1. Professionalism: Engaging in personal activities during interview wait time raises questions about focus and priorities. 2. Judgment: Betting on sports may indicate impulsive decision-making or risk-taking behavior. 3. Integrity: Potential conflict of interest or vulnerability to insider information. Considerations: 1. Accounting skills and qualifications. 2. Relevant work experience. 3. Performance during the interview. Next Steps: 1. Discuss observations with the HR team. 2. Conduct a thorough background check. 3. Assess the candidate's fit with company culture. Possible Outcomes: 1. Proceed with caution: Monitor his work performance and professionalism. 2. Delay decision: Re-evaluate after additional assessments. 3. Reject candidate: Prioritize company interests and reputation. Questions to Ask: 1. Can you explain your betting activities? 2. How do you manage personal and professional life? 3. What's your understanding of company policies on personal activities? Final Decision: Depends on the candidate's responses, overall assessment, and company priorities. In addition, I would do Guidance on background checks Strategies for evaluating candidate fit Prettychild: |

That's his personal life, you as an MD or HR is probably a womaniser, smoker or a party rider....yet you discharge your duties accordingly in office hours without issues |

You don't understand what people are facing in life. The very money he used to come for that interview might be from his bet. Those who stand should be careful. PS: I am play betting in passive. And I am gainfully employed in the tech space. Nothing concern you with what a man does in his private life. |

Financial position and gambling can never go together and for the fact that he did it during interview shows is not serious for the job. |

Meerahbel:Lol! You can’t keep a yam in the custody of a goat and expect the goat not to eat it. If he was applying another post that has nothing to do with the company’s funds, then he can be employed but as an accountant, it is a capital NO for me |

For someone applying for the position of an "accountant", it's a red flag. This one fit use company money play two straight sure odds If it's not a sensitive position that has to do with money, I don't think I give a little f*ck what anyone decides to do with his or her life. |

lavylilly: We had a guy working for us who had drug issues. More than once we heard but the guy was never officially reported as using while working. Then one day he had a psychotic episode and was running round naked and trying to stab people. On site. He was a project supervisor and it was a complete mess as we were working for a large client. We were this close to getting sacked.this person had been calling us for the last 6 months. disturbing us and saying he was now clean. he needed work. i normally the hard headed one was considering putting the guy on a site where he could cause minimal damage. engaging him in probationary capacity. then one morning, he calls a member of the team, while clearly high or maybe coming down and starts threatening the guy. it was surreal. we called the guy and got a whole word salad of nonsense from him. threats, incoherence, etc. it was sad. and this guy was actually a promising guy who could have grown with the company. it is why large companies have drug, alcohol and health tests. |
