FULL LIST OF THE 31 SOLDIERS THAT WERE ON OPERATION DAMISSA
The operation that killed Sir Ahmadu Bello

(Source: Vanguard)

We cannot keep dwelling on the big lie that the Igbos killed Sir Ahmadu Bello, Premier of the Northern Region, when there is a list of the soldiers who stormed his official residence in what Major Chukwuma Nzeogwu code named “Operation Damissa”

While the coup was going on, many of the Northern officers who later began to preach Igbo coup did nothing. Major Hassan Katsina, a Fulani blue blood, like Ahmadu Bello, who had the Reconnaissance Squadron and Regimental Headquarters under his command, froze in fear when Nzeogwu appeared.

The first person to condemn Nzeogwu, an Okpanam man, was Maj. Alphonsus Keshi, his brother and Brigade Major of 1 Brigade, who described the coup plotter as a murderer. Both men were Sandhurst course mates.

This coup was organized by soldiers of different ethnicity..But the falsehood being peddled over the years is it was an Igbo coup.

These people have lied and distorted history through the media to foster their insecurities and hate against Igbo people.

You guys can not get enough from this civil war propaganda? Your ethnic champion is failing abysmally at the center and all you huys can do to help him to whip jp all sorts of ethnic sentiments against the igbos to devide and rule.

Bukar Sukah Dimka killed Murtala, i bet most of you dont know his ethnic group. Major Gideon Orkar nearly devided nigeria with attempted coup, but no Tiv man has been killed because of that. 2027 is fast approaching and those who led Nigeria to misery but want to rule on are trying to use igbos as the fall guys.

Everyday its 1966 coup. Failed APC politicians and igbophobia..

Everybody knows the coup was schemed and executed by military men from all tribes because of their love for the country and the way it was being jeopardised by the then democratic government.

Igbos were just the FALL GUYS undecided it's normal in nigeria for igbos to be 'fall guys' for any and everything that is conceivably wrong in the country.

It's okay. After over 70 years the igbos are already used to it wink they just counter few propaganda once in a while these days cool

It's called an environment of LIES AND INJUSTICE and they hate it very much that they weren't allowed to go after the war they fought cry

So what do they do? They decided to ALWAYS SPEAK THE TRUTH and you know very well that in such an environment as the igbos find ourselves now . . . Well, let's just say the TRUTH HURTS undecided

The question that readily comes to (a sane) mind is, " why do the igbos possess this character flaw (as you just admitted) whereby, they have to make everyone around them, feel insecure"?

I guess it's because deep down within them, they are insecure so they develop this defense mechanism whereby, they have to make others "insecure", to feel good about themselves.

If you are okay in yourself, there will be no need to put your neighbour down and make him/her think there's something negatively wrong with the person.

I better pass my neighbour. Why can't you guys, just chill?.....Live and let live.

So since you know those parts don't belong to the igbos (and the people within those parts don't have anything whatsoever to do with the igbos) then ehy don't we all AGREE to conduct a referendum? 🤔

See you're trying too hard grin you just can't 'shrink' the igbos and their 'go getter' mentality with your mere words or emotions . . . IGBOS HAVE BEEN WHO THEY ARE AND WILL CONTINUE TO BE WHO THEY ARE no matter what for all time.

You guys from other tribes can either man up and accept their character flaw (as you choose to term it wink ) like that or just let them go their own way.

They don't have to feel bad for what they have no control over (your emotions) . . . YOU GUYS SHOULD HANDLE YOUR OWN INSECURITIES BY YOURSELVES Unless it's a character flaw within your own people then I'm just simply sorry for you all on behalf of the igbos tongue

Because let's face it, so far igbos still being among you . . . insecurity will keep worrying you cry

I feel for you guy's sanity at this point sad

It was not about those that planned the coup , it was about how it was carried out. Yes it was planned by soldiers from different ethnic groups but the Igbo people did not touch their leaders while leaders from other tribes were killed that was the problem.

The coup was planned by 5 Majors (4 Igbos and 1 Yoruba).

Eventually, 7 Majors led the coup execution (6 Igbos and 1 Yoruba)

So, we do not need any face saving revision on who were the mere foot soldiers that were on a mission they knew nothing about.

You can see the 7 Majors I refered to above in the below picture provided by Goodvibes007.

You are lying if you are talking about the January 1966 coup.

The January 1966 coup was a bloody and brutal ethnic cleansing coup that was planned and executed by the Igbos to shift power from a Hausa man to the Igbos.

Even though many Igbos held many offices and the army was 80% Igbo, out of the 21 victims of the January 1966 coup, only one person was Igbo

The victims are as listed below
1. Sir Ahmadu Bello-Fulani from Northern Region.
2. Sir Abubakar Tafawa-Balewa-Gere from Northern Region.
3. Samuel Ladokr Akintola-Yoruba from Western Region.
4. Chief Festus Okotie-Eboh-Itsekiri from Midwest Region.
5. Hafsatu Bello (wife of Sir Ahmadu Bello)-Fulani from Northern Region.
6. Mrs Latifat Ademulegun (Brigadier Ademulegun's wife, who was pregnant)-Yoruba from Western Region.
7. Brigadier Samuel Ademulegun-Yoruba from Western Region.
8. Brigadier Zakariya Maimalari-Kanuri from Northern Region.
9. Colonel Kur Mohammed-Kanuri from Northern Region.
10. Colonel Ralph Shodeinde-Yoruba from Western Region.
11. Lt. Colonel Abogo Lagerma-Marghi from Northern Region.
12. Lt. Colonel James Pam-Jos native from Northern Region.
13. Lt. Colonel Arthur Unegbe-Igbo from Eastern Region.
14. Sergeant Daramola Oyegoke-Yoruba from Western Region.
15. Police Constable Philip Lewande-Minority from Northern Region.
16. Police Corporal Akpan Anduka-Efik from Eastern Region.
17. Police Corporal Hagai Lai-Minority from Northern Region.
18. Police Corporal Yohana Garkawa-Minority from Northern Region.
19. Lance Corporal Musa Nimzo-Minirity from Northern Region.
20. Ahmed Pategi-Minority from Northern Region.
21. Zarumi Sardauna-Minority from Northern Region.

The questions you should be asking yourself are
;1) How come only one out of the 21 victims is Igbo?
2) How come South East leaders were not touched even though they were the most corrupt leaders in the country at that time?
3) How come the coup was leaked to Azikiwe and he left the country for the UK on the pretext of going for medical treatment even though he never went to any hospital while he was out of the country?
4) Why did Major Obienu tip off ironsi and Ironsi went on a boat party after Maimalari's reception on the night of the coup?
5) Why did Ironsi ignore the report of the Special Branch of the Nigerian Police on the coup?
6) Why did Ironsi refuse to prosecute the coup plotters to the dismay of Nigerians
7) Why did Ironsi snatched power from Dipcherima (a Borno man) even though Dipcherima was the most senior Nigerian official after the leaders had been murdered?
9) Why did Ironsi quickly surrounded himself with Igbo officers and civilians immediately after the coup?

You sound logical and I like it. Yes, Igbos are too vocal and antagonistic on issues they disagree with and are too forward on issues they agree with. The thing is that an average Igbo has pride and when it comes to issues they feel is right, they tend to be excessively vocal and forward about it. It's good and bad at the same time. It's bad because it attracts unnecessary attention to them including good and bad attention. It's good because the problem of Nigeria today is that everyone is trying to be politically right. Only the Igbo tribe have managed to be objective on issues and not care about being politically right. I'm not saying some people from other tribes are not too.

While I don't know about the list but what pained the northerners the most was how the coup was executed where northerner leaders were killed while no Igbo leaders was touched and also then there was jubilation among the south easterners.
Then Ironsi got in and failed to persecute the coup plotter. Haba that was pure tribalism. So you cznt blame the north for the counter coup.

There was no jubilation among Igbo people. The only show of happiness came from Lagos. In addition, no Igbo leader was as belligerent as those killed in the coup of January 15, 1966.
