If he wants to travel, wake up by 3 AM and walk through the house unclothed, he doesn't have to worry about any little people seeing him. He doesn't have to worry doing a "bad job" and later hearing from the children they were abused in anyway. No one can hold him emotionally hostage through his children.

In addition, he may have some type of traumatic history growing up or a medical condition, that would affect his ability to raise children the way he desires. To care for children appropriately is a huge responsibility and he doesn't want it. He is an honorable and honest human being.
