There is a reason some players take massive pay cuts just to get or retain serious playing time at top levels.

Most of these players come from very poor homes and dream of taking their families and friends out of poverty while ensuring they don’t go back to poverty. The more you can make the better. It’s like a lottery. You are one of the luckiest few to win the lottery if you get into a professional club.

Nobody plays football for passion these days. Gone are those days. Now it’s all about the money!

You are very wrong. What many don’t understand is the real motives of players that take pay cuts. Nobody and I repeat nobody ever takes a pay cut because they love the game. There are usually incentives hidden behind those pay cuts.

Now back to Sterling (who by the way did not take a pay cut to go to Arsenal). If you must know, Sterling only took this offer because lack of playing time would seriously affect his endorsement deals where he makes a whole lot of money.
