"People in the National Assembly and Villa got hold of the platform and used it to track their enemies and mistresses." That, beloved Nigerians, is the summary of the story. |

nlfpmod:Why tracking kidnappers were not important beginning from Buhari's govt era in 2015: Kidnappers, bandits, Boko Haram and armed Fulani herdsmen, as well as political and religious leaders in the 12 northern Nigeria sharia states share a common objective. The common objective is getting a Nigeria to be governed with Sharia criminal justice system. What is the big deal in purchase and maintenance of call tracking system? Call tracking devices should have been provided to every senatorial district in Nigeria. But govt would not provide it because it's expected that once Nigerians are weakened by these forces acting against them, it shall become easier and quicker to conduct a Talibanization of Nigeria to enforce a Nigeria to be governed with Sharia criminal justice system. Before the Taliban of Afghanistan fully struck, it used the same system being used now in Nigeria. |

100s of kilometers? Nope CIA can track me and you with just our phone number. They have Satellites up there dedicated to track even the movement of an Ant. Apart from that, they have drones, once they track and get a location of Kidnappers or terrorist, they marked that area using Satellite imaging, then send Drones capable of detection any slight movement within that range. The drone can be there for days monitoring movement. Then Troops are sent to circle that parameter, anyone that come out of that location is captured or killed. Nigeria should lunch her own satellite and send their troops for trainings simple. Beside there should be special promotion for those that risk their life in rescue operation plus a thousand bonus of their basic salary. Pootle: |

vanbonattel:I second your thought on this... We copied Democratic system of government from the USA ... we didn't copy it well... This state police of a thing is what USA is using ... You hear CHIGOGO POLICE DEPT. NEW YORK POLICE DEPT and so on ... And FBI at the central ... Each state has its own Police department. But Nigeria, corrupt leaders are going against state police... Like you said, a man from that state will always know more of his state in the force. And if they can't run state police, there is alternative, officers should only be posted to their state of origin and work in that state till retirement while been transferring from one local government to another in the same state of origin... Many will even want to join the police force. Some one like me, I like to join the force right from childhood but how can I bee in Lagos and yet been transferred to the state I know no atom of? |

nlfpmod:Cock and story everyday. But the truth is that this APC government lack the will and strength to confront and solve any of the problems and challenges bedeviling the country, none of their campaign promises since 2915 APC government came to power they have been able to solve but rather the problems and challenges are becoming chronic and increasing out of portion. Everyone in the government is after his own share of national cake from the Presidency to his footmen. |

vanbonattel:Really? So that means in the states of the federation, all forms of negligence and corruption has been eliminated....right? Since you say "Nobody will allow his state to be worse", how are Nigerian states faring in terms of good governance, corruption and negligence? |

nlfpmod:The writer of this article and the Editor that allowed the article to be published are ignorant of the current trends in crime and kidnappings or they just wanted to add sensationalism to his report. It's a known fact that these kidnappers are now using satellite phones instead of cell phones which can easily be tracked through the IRT. So, there's a need for upgrades to the tracking system to pin point the coordinates of the kidnappers. There's also the need for smaller drones and combat drones for aerial surveillance and attacks on the base of these criminals in the NOTORIOUSLY well-known crime spots. This would deter crimes and help to apprehend criminals. Period. |

BeigJawnson:. State governments say they can't pay their workers decent minimum wage. How will they be able to fund state police? |

One word summarizes all: CORRUPTION. Our dear country needs complete sanitation from the wicked forces of darkness that have enthroned themselves in high places. The citizens, rather than use their ballot papers properly, choose all the time the wrong leaders. It is a disgrace that when there is a complaint to the police that requires tracking, the officers ask you ton provide sixty thousand naira or more, depending on the matter. Again, they still tell you that there is someone else in charge in another station who they must “settle”. With this mindset, how can they successfully fight crime? Again, how are kidnappers able to get away from spots, when the police can follow up and arrest real time? For example, the motorbikes demanded by kidnappers cab have trackers installed in the before handing over to the criminals. That way, they can easily be arrested after victims are released. Decent security agents are overwhelmed, but the horrible ones make security difficult. |

Konquest:How is it a "known fact that these kidnappers are now using satellite phones instead of cell phones"? Who made it a known fact? Are you the one that bought the satellite phones for them? The bandits that were mocking tinubu on TikTok, is it satellite phone they used for that? When kidnappers use their victims numbers to call families, is it satellite phone that they used? |

lexy2014:For most states in the south, they are doing well in most indices, but Federal ineptitude is the disaster. Take for instance a state government doing well on curbing corruption and doing good investments, only to be wrecked by police ineffectiveness in fighting crime, plus judiciary collapse. Don't forget that with Federal inflation, powered by Federal policy stupidity, every state investments can become trash. |

Always knew the NIN and BVN were so useless given the Nigerian factor. I can bet my last card they also have softwares like Pegasus but prefer to go after mistresses and perceived enemies like the case of NIN and BVN. It also corroborate what I have always said of Buhari and Tinubu's govt. They are malice driven and too political for such advanced tools. |

Konquest:You are guilty of what you wanted to accuse the journalists and editors of here. All criminals cant afford and be using satellite phones. We have been cases where the suppliers of sex workers to bandits or ammunition suppliers were busted and instead of storming the location of bandits with their help, they come to media to parade them. It still points to a compromised security agency system. |

When I once said sometimes ago that the problems of Nigeria's state of insecurity is that of underdevelopment, brought about by corruption, nepotism, ineptitude and religion. Someone almost crucified me. Imagine if our rate of technological advancement is Even close to that of mere South Africa, let alone the more technological advanced nations of the world , like the USA, France, Russia, ,China etc...... There was indeed a country. |

BeigJawnson:What happens when the state police becomes a reflection of the federal policing system we have today whereby those in power use the police for their selfish interests? The best system of policing still remains federal for us. |

Tackling insecurity should be the main issues concerning next election. The present administration has failed woefully to address increasing crime and seems clueless and confused on how to effectively combat insecurity. |
