Buhari Never Liked Tinubu, He Wanted Ahmad Lawan To Succeed Him — Sule Lamido by Antoeni(op): 11:41am On Sep 01, 2024
Sule Lamido, an ex-governor of Jigawa, says former President Muhammadu never wanted Bola Tinubu to be his successor.

Lamido said Buhari wanted Ahmad Lawan, a former senate president, to succeed him.

In an interview with the Nigerian Tribune, Lamido said Buhari was “naive and absurd” in his political calculation, adding that the former president wanted a northern successor after he had spent eight years.

The former governor said Buhari did not trust his vice-president, Yemi Osinbajo, to succeed him.

“Prior to the convention, he (Tinubu) was in Abeokuta, Ogun state, where he boasted that it was his turn to rule Nigeria. And Buhari, very naive, was watching,” Lamido said.

“He never liked Tinubu. There was somebody he wanted. He didn’t even trust his own vice president, Professor (Yemi) Osinbajo; he wanted Ahmed Lawan, but his calculation was absurd.

“You have done eight years for the north, and you wanted another northerner for another eight years! No. Maybe later, but there are some dynamics which you can’t alter, not in Nigeria of today.

“The president of Nigeria, after being in office for eight years, lacked the courage to push through his anointed choice.

“He was there at the convention, and Tinubu, that he never liked, and never believed in, emerged.

“Tinubu knows that his victory wasn’t from Buhari; therefore, he owes him nothing.

“He wasn’t the choice of Afenifere; Obasanjo never liked him, but he became president. All the other groups, including the governors, were there, but he won. He was determined to demolish all obstacles, and he crushed them.”

The former governor said it will be “very difficult” for Tinubu to be defeated in the 2027 presidential election.

He added that Tinubu defeated all obstacles to become president in 2023, including a sitting president, who did not want him.

“We are working hard, but it is a huge task. It is going to be difficult with Tinubu, with his hold on the country, on the economy, and his audacity to say this is where I stand against Nigeria’s interest. It is something else,” he said.

“Tinubu is very daring; he is his own creation, he is a self-made man, right from Chicago, what he went through on the streets.

“Look at how he was able to fight the Alliance for Democracy and Afenifere and then Obasanjo.”

If true, then Buhari is too daft.
The truth is Buhari wanted Tinubu and he rigged him in.

Buhari wanted to act like a godfather...one thing is to be the president another thing is your personality, your charisma; this will determine how people see and respect you. and when you realize you are not that big, you would not think highly of yourself. Buhari is/was deluded.

Don't rule like a wicked, self centered emperor. Emperors don't live long on the throne, is it Alexandra the great?, Julius Caesar? Or Hitler? History always itself

The afenifere group and other reputable Yoruba groups should come and and condemn how emilokan is ruling the nation. Let it be clear that Tinubu's position and policies do not align with the afeniferes.

Contrary to the opinion that Tinubu appoints only southwesterns, he only appoints his boys, his loyalties. The masses are suffering everywhere. Appointment does not in any way better the lives of the majority of the citizens.Shalom

And the god of Politics called Emilokan Asiwaju JAGABAN humiliated them all. The enemies gathered and even the naive youths of the country were recruited against JAGABAN, and he defeated the youths and the masses who were misinformed. So it is true that one with God is a majority.

Even the opposition envy him. His enemies wish they are him. Don’t be surprised if you see Sule Lamido in Tinubu’s camp very soon. We may just use to exchange some bite bitters still pretending to be with us

I think Obidients who criticize Tinibu can learn how politics is played, because you lost an election doesn't mean you should cross some boundaries.
Lamido despite being in opposition is knowledgeable enough to know it is the turn of the Southerners to retain the number one sit for the next 7years, and Peter Obi will shop the cane of hatred promoted by the Obidients, it's just sad that the reasonable Igbo voice has been drown and what we see today coming from the region is the abusive voice of the pathetic losers wailing and gnashing their teeth just because they lost the election

Buhari wanted to act like a godfather
When he is actually Tinubu’s godson. Tinubu said it in the presence of the whole world that he JAGABAN made him (Buhari) the President after the has failed three times and cried on national television. Everyone knows Tinubu is Buhari’s godfather, how the godson wants to turn himself to godfather is what amuses me

I do wonder if Tinubu would defeat the people yelling ẹbí n'pawa and end bad governance, and no fuel and spiked exchange and gari rate etc., but I do guess Nigerians can suffer long and continue to elect the source of their suffering.

We after all yelled "Fulani" for 4 years and elected Bubu for another 4, so I wouldn't be surprised if we can't be the obstacles that defeat Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.

Nigerians are not daft and the understand that the rot of 60years won't go away in a year.

What is important is to lay the foundation of a new and greater Nigeria and to put pressure on the government not to lose track.

But when you think of changing power from a one ere man and give to a blind man as solution to Nigeria problem then your delusion is follow come.

Atiku and Obi are not and cannot be a replacement for Tinubu, take that home and you will be alright

Atiku and Obi are not the only Nigerians suitable for our presidency. And there's the Senate and House of Reps and governors too who significantly contribute to the bad governance.

In fact, I do wonder that we are not laying a foundation (we can't be laying foundation since 1960!), but are letting bad builders build on a bad foundation with bad bricks. But I do suppose we can continue doing what we've always done and expect a different and better outcome. Hope does after all spring eternal, I'm told, and Nigerians are patient and very good at Shuffering and Shmiling.

The below is from 1977. It might make you see how far we've come.

You have been here for sometimes and should be sincere in your judgment of the political game that built up to 2023 will accept that SE is not prepared and if Tinubu had not been smart enough in APC the north would have hijacked it and you would have turned around to blame Tinubu.

In the build-up to 2023, SE has a chance in PDP while SW has a chance in APC but what happened to the opportunity you people had after serving PDP 23year, your political leaders lost out in the Primary and your Obi and prominent leaders of SE extraction in PDP could not come out with an agreeable candidate that made SE lost out in the Primary.

There's no way you can become Nigeria president without winning the primary of your party. The Yoruba you blame today have very limited influence in PDP and couldn't have been the culprit when your leaders were lilly liver.

You and other reasonable Igbo should see Obi as an albatross and selfish person who compounded the predicament of the SE people.

Be truthful to yourself and speak boldly to your poor and self-defeating politics of hatred and bitterness that would further allieniate the SW people from you who have embraced you after the war and allowed you to have a space in their midst

You don't need anyone to tell you that Lamido has been positioned to be an attack dog for Tinubu. As 2027 approaches, Tinubu will do everything he can to get more northerners on his side. He will use men like Lamido for that.

Oh and by the way, lest I forget, Buhari is an (i)mbecile.
