No, you're a liar. I did my uni in the SE.
checkpoints every two poles have been a hallmark of the eastern roads since i started using the roads there. Use to think it was the same all-over the country till i travelled to the north for youth service. IPOB/ESN only provided the authorities the excuse to legitimate the infamy lately.

Imo state along is more than 100, talk more of Anambra, Abia , Enugu and Ebonyi

Along Enugu-Onitsha express road, I noticed that the police and Army sometimes do not collect the cash themselves just in case someone might be recording them. They instead send a man in black shirt who works with them, these guys would hold a bottle of water…you’d think they are selling the water to the driver when they approach the vehicles to take money off the driver.

If the driver refuses or reluctant to pay, the supposedly bottle water hawker would signal to the police/army and the vehicle would spend hours under the sun with them.

Nigeria police and Army make a lot of money in the south east.

No other region can survive what the Easterners are surviving under the zoo called Nigeria

The checkpoint between Umuahia and Lokpanta is annoying but I still prefer it than getting kidnapped on the road.

They may not have prevented it 100% but I am sure without their presence it will be worse.But they can reduce the number of checkpoints to minimium.But I can tell you their presence reassure travelers some sense of security.
