I am not even bothered about the speed at this time. I know that route very well. I still feel more could be done in terms of adding more stations in between each of them, so it can actually serve as alternative transportation. Having to stop at Yaba and then taking two or three bus to your home, still sound like not much progress has been made.

Well, the blue rail is not particulary cheap with the first section costing over $1.2B for just 27km with just 5 stations, while Grand Paris Express Underground that was just built in time for the Olympic games with 68 stations and over 200km, cost about $36B. You can do the math and compare.

If Lagos wanted to build an underground, they easily could have.

The 1st underground line in the Uk was built in 1854 it as the metropolitan line back then it cost the British taxpayer £1m pounds.in todays money that is 2000x£1m.this was in 1854,so in 2024 .The newest line which was the Elizabeth line cost the tax payer more than £30 Billion to build. and its from London Abbey wood to Reading.60% underground.

Partial services and full service will not have any difference in the time between the time it takes to commute between any two stations, since it wasn't stated whether or not the speed is reduced during partial services.

And yes, here in Europe, the approximate time between any two stations is 2 minutes.

Stop nonsensical comparisons. Europe didn’t build what they have overnight common.

In the US many cities don’t even have a rail system SMH too early for this abeg.

No he's actually talking about the distance between them and truly it may end up not having a significant impacts. The longest distance between a standard light rail stations shouldn't be more than 3 minutes.
Imagine the next station after Ikeja is Agege, there should be at least an extra station in between Ikeja to Agege.

What London is for Uk, is what Lagos is for Nigeria. It is baby steps at a time. Nobody is telling them to build up 400+ stations underground like Paris or London. Consider it for some route and maintain the environment.

Another mumu comparison. Many cities in US don’t have a rail system, and many big cities don’t even have underground rail.

It’s not a must that Lagos must copy what Paris or Moscow have, these two places have different topographies and will cost different. Lagos is doing what it feels best for its city.

Common it’s a huge progress by Nigeria’s standards.

Yes, in most of us eyes the trains are brand new and all that. But I must say this trains are nothing to be compare with the western worlds own.
Back in early 1990's I watched the India movie "BURNING TRAIN" which I later discover was shot in 1980 and "GHOST" an american movie featuring Whoopi Goldberg.
Honestly the trains used in those movies of over 30 and 40yrs ago are far better than what I'm seeing here in Lagos in 2024.

But like I said earlier, I still commend the state governor.

Well, I guess it's a start but what is worth doing, is worth doing well especially when they hope the rail can be alternative to the buses. Otherwise, huge distances between two stations will ensure the project is less impactful to the people as intended.

You have a point. I think it has to do with the speed of the train, I don't know why they're doing that... I'm beginning to think the trains are not the same Talgo trains brought from Milwaukee cos that has a speed of 330km/h, so I don't know why it should be moving at snail speed.

My own issue is more of the train departure times. People who need the train the most are the working class leaving home around 6-7AM, I wonder why they thought 8:30 would be a nice idea but I guess they want a lot of people to board and later they'll improve on the departure times.

Sorry but building intra city rail like the one in Lagos, is not baby steps. Alot of other countries already have something better since 1920s.

When I talk of baby steps, I speak of underground rail and even tram systems.

With the depths of about 30 to 40m, no houses would be affected by the construction also.
