googi:I get your point. But the issue that should be brought to the fore, is our successive government failed to provide some of the basics of life that would make a said bank manager enjoy his wealth in his own country. Quality of life is not and shouldn't be measured in terms of earnings alone. Imagine making so much money and spending half on fuel for your car and home. Paying exorbitant school fees, bad road, traffic jams, insecurities etc. Our govt need to fix the basic amenities of life to make us enjoy working in our own country. I don't think it's a mentality thing. But I also don't think a cleaner's job is better than manager job. The OP is also misrepresenting the facts. From the points mentioned, it's all about living in a sane country where things works and having a gainful employment but not limited to a cleaner. I think even the cleaner will struggle to pay his bills with cleaner salary especially when he has a family to take care of. That's why most of them have a 2nd job. |

A toilet cleaner can buy a 2003 corolla with a months salary. Bank manager monthly salary can’t buy same car in Nigeria 🥴 |

Rossikk:That's not true. I know toilet cleaners today that own cars. The job is called JANITOR here and I personally know some that own cars..nice cars for that matter. This might differ according to city and state though. Have a good day. hotwax:You don't own any land in Nigeria. Plenty Nigerian immigrants in Anglo-Western countries own multiple homes. Most people in Nigeria are poor. You're among the few lucky ones and MANY people like you continue to flee Nigeria. Anyway I've over discussed this issue. Nigeria is the Poverty Capital of the World. Sorry!!! Good Luck to Nigeria |

EcoNews:You see TRUTH and your idiocy, hate and bigotry drives you to start asking daft questions in order to try and save face! I know you're a Tinubu/APC minion, and instead of you to be contrite and apologetic for the grief your lust for power and poor judgement has caused Nigeria, your arrogance drives you to argue 'Nigeria is El-Dorado and hasn't had it better since 2015'! Pray, what is the nexus between the evil engineered 'sit-at-home' driven by the ekpa traitorous turncoat and bigoted Igbo-haters on nairaland, and the truths the OP has just posted!? You're shameless and this is why you see nothing wrong in denying obvious truths! |

Let me share this life story here. I met someone who is a financial controller back in Nigeria, he earns 7 digits monthly in Nigeria. He relocated to UK, guess his first work is working in a warehouse. He started working in a warehouse while pursuing certifications related to his course of study and work. He acquired lots of certifications and eventually land his dream job. If you see this guy now, he's swimming on money. Big boy and wealthy. Bought houses in UK, drove expensive cars. Something he may never have achieved in Nigeria in a short notice. |

Rossikk:From someone who has experienced and is constantly experiencing home and abroad, the OP is right in most cases! Yes, it's not a bed of roses but if you go legally, you are better of than most people in Nigeria. |

patrickcollins:Yes you are right, no one does. But the fact stares straight in our faces. 1. The jobs you think you want are non existent. 2. They have made it abundantly clear that Africans are not wanted, why do we still go in droves. You need to understand the economic games the Europeans, especially the British, play on our people. My brother, If you can afford the cost of traveling, you have no reason washing toilet in a foreign. Wealth abound around us. The grass is not always greener on the other side. From a man who has seen it all. |

Notfogotten:Apart from "B" maybe, I live better than that toilet cleaner in “the abroad”. Plus I have my self esteem in tact because I am maximizing my gifts and talents. I am not living less than myself, just because I am looking for food to eat. I am not feeling less than myself just because of my skin color. I am not worried about my children being shot by a mass shooter or being injected with warped values in the name of free education. I can go on and on. But each to His own. |

It is such a delusional people that sell all they have ...borrow money on top and go abroad believing life is definitely greener on the other side.... all that need to be done is to get there. When reality strikes .... they are stuck ... sufferation 24/7 ...wishing to return but they burnt the bridge after they crossed over. For this reason I'm always against the FG for airlifting them back home ... they should remain and enjoy the 24 hrs electricity ..and Medicare and all the advantages OP mentioned ... why return to the ehmmm ..."shit hole"? On one point ... the average Nigerian .... regardless of status ... eats much healthier foods than than most Americans. We can agree that natural/organic foods are wayyy healthier than GMO and processed foods. In Nigeria most eat natural foods ....cannot afford the GMO's but in the US most cannot afford organic foods and resort to the unhealthy GMOs . And we wonder why the US has a high rate of health issues .. cancer..kidney failure ...liver problems .. overweight... a problem that is increasing in Nigeria because we want to eat the same like the Americans believing that what they eat is healthier. Check the ingredients on almost any American brand product ...cereals..juice .whatever ... you will see high fructose corn syrup ... a sweetener ... banned in Canada ..banned in the entire Europe but widely used in the US. Enough for healthy foods in the US. |
