Exactly

I tink NNPC are doing this to remain relevant as they have nothing meaningful to warrant the billions spent on dem.even d refineries they run has not produced 1ltre of petrol

Don't be stupid, Tinubu said he removed fuel subsidy which means the price should be determined by the force of demand and supply, what business does NNPC has with that? They are only doing that because Subsidy is really back, the landing cost of petrol is over 1000 so they'd buy at 1000 and sell to suppliers at below 600 which means for every 1 litre of fuel you're using in Nigeria Government are subsidising it with at least 400 while maintaining the lies that subsidy is gone! The reason it's bad is because NNPC will continue it's subsidy scam running into trillions of Nigeria while your president is shameless enough to broadcast recently that there's nothing like subsidy, he's confused and not bold enough to admit that he's failed on his number one promise of removing fuel subsidy.
So u still blieve there is no subsidy wen landing cost alone is above 1100

It would have made sense if the Government agreed that fuel subsidy is back, there was no single Kobo budgeted for fuel subsidy, where is the money coming from? How much are they spending on subsidy monthly? Without all these the subsidy regime continue to be shrouded in secrecy which is nothing else but promoting corruption in large scale, you know this but your head is not working well, that's why you're defending corruption.
U need to understand tinubu spends without budget.Where did money for plane come frm?wen was it approved?same thing wit d subsidy they are paying.

Why is the NNPC involved with Dangote? Why can't they fix their own 4 refineries and let demand and supply determine how much Dangote sells?
What if marketers buy cheap n sell in other african countries while increasing scarcity here in naija?

That’s smuggling too. Why would the Nigerian government allow marketers to buy and take it out of Nigeria when there’s local market already?
Re: Nigeria Fuel Crises: Why Is The NNPC Buying Out Dangote’s Petrol? by Realdeals(m): 1:33pm On Sep 03, 2024
I think NNPC is the sole buyer for now because government is more or less subsidizing the crude supply to the Dangote refinery via the Naira for crude arrangements.

With the envisaged appreciation of the Naira against the USD, and coming on stream of NNPC refineries, they will quit as the sole buyer.
voiceofpaul:
Okay, the reason is that when NNPC becomes the sole buyer of petrol from Dangote, then NNPC instead of demand and supply would determine the price of the commodity, which in-turn undermines the presence of the world's 6th largest refinery in a country with the 10th largest oil and gas reserve.

Now, you tell me why it is not a bad idea. Your turn.

Learn to discuss Issues without insult. Then base on your Annalise's you are just here to put blame not problem solving ideas . If government remove subsidy completely the prices of a liter will be more than 1200 and Nigerians including you are crying with this partial subsidy removal . What do you think will happen if they stop their back door subsidy? Tinubu has failed in that subsidy thing and many Nigerians were brainwashed against subsidy as if is the final solution to Nigeria problem which only enrich politicians but put many Nigerians in big problem . Many Nigerians who voted for any candidate that campaigned with Subsidy removal slogan are the same with Tinubus followers . I asked during electioneering " what will government give back to Nigerians that will complement the impact of subsidy " but many said good governance and paillatives. Now Tinubu and his governors are in big money but Nigerians are crying .

I'm not even in support of the subsidy removal anymore, it's a decision that should have been taking very carefully because of the ripple effects it would generate, but now official price was set below 600 but I've been buying fuel for 1000 since, how does that makes sense? Let them come forward and tell Nigerian the truth

Petrol is a base denominator product in Nigeria, why is the NNPC regulating the price and not the forces of demand and supply?! undecided
So that you can start shouting Tinubu again when the force of demand and supply push it to 2000 naira per litre.

No reasonable government to should leave important commodities that have direct impact on other sectors of the economy to the forces of demand and supply.

That is where Tinubu erred in the issue of naira floating

No! Why is Tinubu and the NNPC jumping on Dangote’s products! What happened to their own 4 refineries?!

Do you think that NNPC becoming the sole buyer of Dangote's petrol is an economic sabotage move against Nigerians? Should Dangote Refinery be responsible for selling its petrol products directly to whoever is interested?

The other day it was announced that NNPC has a debt into the billions it needs to resolve. How else is it going to do it if it allows Dangote to sell directly denying NNPC the opportunity to tax the people so as to resolve the debt? I hear it is in the amount of $6 billion dollars. grin

You sef Dey see am? And before that, they said rain, storm, rusted pipeline, bad road and all sorts were the reason they couldn’t supply fuel.

Can’t NNPC just focus on their own 4 refineries?

Soon you will hear that NNPC is owing Dangote 1 Trillion Naira in unpaid supply and that is why Dangote refused to supply, hence the scarcity.

No, that's an unacceptable excuse. Why can't the FG ix their own 4 refineries! Why wait for Dangote! Isn't that hijacking?

Hijacking ke? They helped him build it so surely they are part owners. Una don check list of shareholders for that company? Something tells me you will find the names of a lot of Nigerian politicians on there. undecided

NNPC has 7.2% stake. Before you can control or organization, you must be highest shareholder and obviously that role isn’t for the FG of Nigeria.

Can’t they just focus on their own 4 refineries and make it work?!
