Even with this increased cost of petrol, people buying fuel has decreased significantly but not according to NNPC

I wish him all the luck but I'm not seeing him selling well in Nigeria. He should just export just like he has been doing with diesel while we import same diesel

Yes, there will be fuel but money to buy will be the problem because the price won't go down as expected. Imagine we have crude and refineries are not working so we export crude and import fuel. Now we have refinery but they refused to give crude to refine here, so he needs to import crude and refine to get petrol. So the thing is that, something needs to be imported to have an excuse for high price

The problem with petrol usage in Nigeria is that it's being smuggled across borders.
There would be no scarcity if our people were not smuggling. There is little govt. can do because custom officials are also Nigerians like us.

There's surely something the government can do,generate revenue massively locally and stop borrowing to strengthen the naira to make our fuel not attractive for smuggling,how can government generate the revenue?, here's how,get a list of the top 20 already registered n public quoted construction companies in Nigeria n other reputable foreign ones,divide the network of Nigerian dilapidated roads into lots of 200km each, contract out the lots to the companies to construct n toll the roads on an agreed sharing formula,talk to Nigerians sincerely to understand your intention,let the companies immediately make the roads usable n build the toll gates immediately n let the revenue rebuild the roads to standard n the excess to be use for other things, establish security camps on the road n eliminate unnecessary check points,you can imagine the millions of jobs this scheme would create n the trillions that would be generated, this is all possible within a year with decent leadership.

Tracking trucks is not the same as tracking the fuel loaded in them. I can see the corrupt ones transferring most of the fuel to other trucks and delivering 25% to the station.As long as fuel is sold cheaper in Nigeria than neighbouring countries ... it will be smuggled fuelm.Maybe there need to be new laws with harsh penalties ... like fines of ten times the value of fuel smuggled fuel.. confiscating the vehicle/means used for transportation ....plus a minimum of 1 year imprisonment. This will no doubt reduce... reduce smuggling.

You are still believing that nonsense excuse of smuggling even when Customs have told you that NNPC is not providing proof of importing 98m litres daily consumption and you need at least 2000 trucks daily to smuggle the quantity that NNPC is claiming is being smuggled, which depots does the 2000 smuggling trucks load their product daily that Nigerians cannot see?
