Shawarmagirl:At the time of that picture, fuel was selling above N150 In most parts of the country.(If you think I am lying, see here and here) Subsides were becoming difficult to maintain...infact keeping fuel at N87...led to a massive debt in subsidy claims that was not settled till 2018, when Buhari paid off the last of the claims...from before he took over. It also led to a massive drain of our forex reserves and put us in some deficit, meaning we had to take more loans...even when oil was high (see why GEJ wanted to raise prices to 140? Because he knew it was costing too much to keep fuel at 65 in 2011/12) Most people then bought fuel above the official price. Yes, one could buy at N87...but you had to queue for long periods of time, and you had to even spend a lot of money And even then, it was affecting the economy...by 2015 our forex reserves were drained. GEJ wanted to raise fuel prices to N140 per liter. You people told him no. You are now hailing the N87 as a achievement...when in reality it made things worse...and sadly buhari and tinubu have continued with such nonsense...and here we are. GEJ should have told the ojota people in 2012 to shut up, and he should have removed subsidy...by now we would have been reaping the benefit. |

All these small boiz do not want this government to remain focus. They keep shouting every day. Fuel scarcity is bad for them but good for APC fatifuls. From tomorrow morning starting from 12.am BAT and other APC governors, and other political office holders will be sharing fuel for all APC MEMBERS FOR FREE. SO let those wailing keep wailing. nairalanda1:And how would he have contained the riots that would have ensued in the North and West, these are the majority tribes who clearly didn't want him in office no matter what? Then the same Nigerian people voted out GEJ in 2015 AFTER he restored the subsidy they wanted. No need for fake neutrality...better face the facts of history. President Jonathan was a minority tribe President without the POLITICAL CAPITAL to sustain his policies. That's all there is to it. President Tinubu has the political capital. If Presidential Elections are held today he will win again, even if he raises petrol prices to ₦2000 per liter. It's a tribal thing, it's a political thing. It's easy to understand. Good Luck to Nigerians. |

Who is the Minister for Petroleum? That's where their energy should be targeted. |

IbeOkehie:Well, here we are suffering the resultant hardship due to refusal to remove subsidy for decades.... TInubu is now delaying facing the inevitable, while the economy gets shittier and shittier. Nigerians honestly need to wake up. Having cheap fuel is costing us too much. Sometimes, hard decisions have to be made. But then again, we all want our N40 fuel.... |

Retaining Abba Kyari in his position shows the level of love the president has for Nigerians, him as a petrolleum minister need not wait until people stating agitating for removal of a single man who made life unbearable for over 200 millions Nigerians, even if the man had bewiched Mr. President he cannot do that to all Nigerians, that is why people will demand for his removal by force. |

1nice:Criminals in power. Dangote fuel shouldn't be sold more than 300 because no landing cost or any importation costs because we supply crude oil to him in naira but they are playing game against the citizens to do as if they are still paying these costs. |
| Re: "Mele Kyari: NNPC GMD Must Go” - Protests Rock Abuja Over Fuel Scarcity by IbeOkehie: 12:50pm On Sep 04, 2024 |
nairalanda1:Stop blaming President Jonathan and PDP for the choices made by the Nigerian people. It's dishonest to do so. Especially in this age of the internet when a few clicks can give us the historic facts. Fake neutrality is a disservice to us all. Good Luck to Nigerians. |

IbeOkehie:GEJ has long left...I am largely blaming the current government for still not taking the necessary decisions. Yes, GEJ should have removed subsidy totally, and ignored the ojota crowd. But right now, he isn't in power. |

That man is very incompetent. List of failures and broken promises under him: 1) By Dec 2023, he said Port harcourt refineries will be working, now we are in Sept, nothing after billions of Dollars spent. 2) OB3 pipeline he promised by August, now we are in Sept. 3) AKK pipeline, we don’t even know the update thus far. 4) Lies about NNPC’s finances, frustrating local refineries, non-supply of adequate crude to local fineries, favouring importation of petrol and no working labs to check quality of imported PMS, etc. |

I can bet it,if the price goes up further to N2,000 per liter, these same gullible Nigerians will still buy it! Won ti shepe fun yin, awon ode gbogbo! |

Fools! Kyari is to Tinubu what Emefiele was to Buhari, they are puppets The whole scarcity thing was artificial to compel Dangote to sell his fuel through NNPC and allow NNPC determine the price of fuel nationwide They did also to protect their own businesses in the Fuel importation racketeering! In the end, politicians wins, Nigerians loose and suffer more. |

nairalanda1:The current government is responding to the will of the Nigerian people. Even the limited good decisions they've taken are possible ONLY because they're a government based on a tribal-religious alliance between the Yoruba & (Hausa)-Fulani, two MAJOR groups in Nigeria. There's NO WAY President Jonathan could have sustained ANY policy at that time because both Bola Tinubu & Muhammadu Buhari hated him. Even if he had kept the subsidy, he would have surely lost the 2015 Presidential Election and APC would have restored it just for populist spite. The real problem is the Nigerian people. Good Luck to Nigerians. |
