This is Bill Gates speaking. He was once the richest man in the world for 10consecutive years. He is also a U.S citizen by birth(at least, from the previous generation) So he's an authority on matters like this on multiple fronts. You cant tell him about a Saner Clime cause he grew up in the system If u knew more than him, you'd not be unknown here in Nigeria You are not smarter than Bill Gates |

Please tax them more. Why should they still be riding cars or feeding? The emilokan government was supposed to be a government of suffering. |

Tax collection rate is different from tax rate o. For those who may be equating them. Tax compliance rate is what egbon Gates meant. |

ivolt:He's talking about the system and what should be done, not about morals That he hired Sergio Ramos to defend him in cases that involves Tax evasion doesnt make his claims invalid. Know the difference |

CyrusVI:Actually, it makes it invalid. Unless you believe he loves a distant African country more than his own. His country has trillions of dollar debt because billionaires like him refuse to pay tax at the same rate as the middle class. Why isn't he advocating for blocking tax evasion in the US? The fact that he is Bill Gates doesn't mean he knows anything about the Nigerian economy. Going by this statement, he is as ignorant as the average Joe on the street. He likely picked up the talking point from the various textbook economist articles which postulates solutions without proper contextual understanding. The current government even has a dedicated team for tax policy. If they think they have some novel and effective means of tax collection aside the import duties and VAT that place heavy burden on the poorest, then, they should let us hear it. A fact any reasonable economist won't argue against is that no country has ever taxed itself out of poverty. Increased taxation follows economic boom and not the other way around. |
