Go and check out STUDIO GHIBLI movies and sin no more. Masterpiece upon masterpiece is all they deliver.
There are also lots of anime movies from other studios too. Most of the anime inspiration Hollywood tapped from for their movie ideas are mostly from the anime movies.

So far so good, I'm enjoying it better than S1. The stakes are higher, it's way more fast paced here than the slop fest we were forced to endure last season. But the writing still has some issues even tho better than S1.

man it has been boring .. I've been having a hard time keeping up with it. Feels like I've just been staring at the bare screen

I believe there's still good numbers of anime movies you're sleeping on. I might be wrong though.

Truly, quality anime series are churned at a faster rate compared to movies. Still, I think anime movies released in the last 5 years are not as high profile or well hyped up like the series which are mostly based on already existing IPs so they automatically have a built-in fanbase.
Every once in a while we get movies like THE BOY AND THE HERON, SUZUME, YOUR NAME etc.

That Birdemic was hilarious as fvvk. Having Nigerian Nollywood type of CGI with them goofy @ss birds is just not the shit I expected to see in an Hollywood film in 2013. The werey actors no even make am fell realistic one bit with their "anywhere belle face" shooting. 😅😅😭😂

Personally I wasn't at the edge of my sit in the first 3 episode but it wasn't all bad to me. I am still very much interested in seeing future episodes.
