He's right about Russia building their nukes around the time US was also building theirs. It's just that US were the first to test them by dropping the Fat Man and Little Boy in Nagasaki and Hiroshima respectively.

Many countries were developing the technology around the same time including Germany. The difference between getting a bomb in 5 years as opposed to 20 was made by an American who basically gave the blueprints to the Russians.
