A Wake-Up Call for a Detribalized Nigeria In the aftermath of the elections, the reality has hit home for many. Those who once rejoiced in the downfall of political rivals are now facing the consequences of a system that does not discriminate when it comes to hardship: 1. Many have been forced to sell their cars, unable to keep up with the rising costs of living. 2. Rent payments have become a struggle for countless households. 3. The cost of healthcare has pushed many to resort to traditional roots and agbo, as medicines are now beyond reach. 4. Fuel prices have skyrocketed, making transportation a luxury only a few can afford. 5. Involuntary exercise has become the norm for those who can no longer bear the high cost of commuting. 6. The dream of escaping these hardships through 'Japa' has become an exclusive privilege of the rich. 7. Even the cost of an Android phone now rivals what was once the price of a 2005 Corolla before the current administration. 8. Essential commodities like yam and garri have become symbols of the daily struggles faced by millions. In the face of these challenges, one truth becomes undeniable: Tribalism has led us down a path of division, but the effects of bad governance do not respect tribe, religion, or ethnicity. Nigeria’s current state serves as a stark reminder that the seeds of tribalism, once sown, yield a crop that spares no one. The economic difficulties, social unrest, and declining quality of life do not discriminate based on which ethnic group one belongs to. They are the shared burdens of a nation divided. This moment in our history should not be seen as a lesson for any single individual or group, but as a collective experience that highlights the urgent need for a unified Nigeria. It is time to recognize that our strength lies in our unity, not in the artificial divisions that have been imposed upon us by the politics of hate and segregation. The call to action is clear: We must reject the tribalism that has been used to divide us and, instead, embrace the vision of a truly detribalized Nigeria. A nation where every citizen is valued not for their ethnic background, but for their contribution to the collective good. The results of bad governance do not respect tribe or religion, and neither should our efforts to rebuild this nation. Let us come together, not as Hausa, Yoruba, Igbo, or any other ethnic group, but as Nigerians, united in our pursuit of a better future for all. It is our turn, and in this struggle, no one is exempted. The path forward demands that we shed the divisions of the past and work together for a Nigeria where prosperity, justice, and peace are the birthright of every citizen, regardless of where they come from. This version of the article reframes the current hardships as a unifying experience for all Nigerians, emphasizing the need to move beyond tribalism and towards national unity.

Gjrich:Tribalism is not the problem… The problem is the continuous attempts to sweep it under the carpet until it forcefully jumps out during election time and other times…. EUROPE is TRIBAL And they dont hide that… They all have ONE dominant religion or language or VALUE SYSTEM in EACH country there DUHHHH unlike what white people created in Africa called Nigger Area/ Nigeria… where groups that were and should be nations on their own are scheming to cheat each other under the cover of “Nigeria”… especially cheating the Easterners/Midwesterners/Middle Belters…. Shame |

Turboking:Of course he lied through his rotten teeth! You and the fool being referenced that supported Tinubu should tell how Peter Obi a ‘dummy’!? And assuming you do the impossible and tell us, what happened to supporting other Igbo who contested for the primaries in APC!? Your sense of justice and fairness didn’t tell you 2023 should have been the turn of the south-east/Igbo to produce president!? You see, when the OP talks of tribalism inhibiting Nigerias’ progress, he has bigots like you in mind! |

Dear Jagaban lovers, What is the progress update on Tinubu’s eight point agenda he promised Nigerians in 2023? This is over one year now. How far? 1. food security; 2. poverty eradication; 3. growth, 4. job creation; 5. access to capital; 6. inclusion; 7. rule of law; and 8. fighting corruption https://punchng.com/translating-tinubus-8-point-agenda-to-recovery/?amp What about the 50 million jobs promised between 2023 to 2026? How many has Tinubu and his government created? https://www.nairaland.com/7821154/tinubu-sets-3-year-economic-revival |

LOVEALAIGBO:You twits, entitlement mentality kee u dia, always playing the victim card to garner sympathy at the slightest opportunity. You wanted support from the same party you and your fellow bigots called an islamic party while in formation in 2014? U want to reap where u did not sow? U guys were even lucky some elements amongst u were allowed to contest the primaries in APC , atleast the party seems fair enough in my point of view,Kudos for the inclusiveness but insisting on solely giving the party ticket to exclusively a south easterners is asking too much if you ask me. Where is the fairness and justice in asking other qualified aspirants not to contest because you want an eastern president at all cost? U too want to do emilokan abi.. blockhead |

EreluRoz: The problem is that a lot of people are still primitive and archaic in their reasoning. Whites don't reason like majority of people down here. A situation a fellow countryman is happy to see his/her neighbor sad and will always ensure that such persons don't enjoy the common wealth of the country. The worst part is that those who exhibit such wicked acts don't contribute any meaningful thing to the growth of the country. Next election, they will prefer to vote in a pig than someone from a different religion or tribe. |
