The only movie this year that’ld reach inside out 2 is Moana just because of how popular it is on Disney+. Another movie no one is talking about that has a better potential of making a billion easily is Wicked - it's the most popular musical not just in the US but in Asia & Europe. Les Miserables that's not as popular made more than Dune Part Two.
Why Wicked could make a billion
1. Ariana Grande 🤷🏽‍♂️ - She's releasing new music with the movie. Girls will certainly watch the movie multiple times just to be part of the conversation.
2. It's a movie mostly for females - there are not a lot of blockbusters for females and when they're - they make it big (Barbie)- it could be another Barbie.
3. THE Broadway show has made billions of dollars and the highest grossing Broadway musical of all times.
4. It's also centred for children - the bright colours and really moral themes are great for children🔥🔥

Joker 2024 hype is higher than the last one and it's has lady Gaga as the main female character also the success of the last one will definitely make people wanna watch it more

Gets worse with each new season. There are more females than grains of sand in the series. That's how you know it's gonna be shit.

I bet there were lots of females involved in the production of this series. There's no way a group of men would sit down and come up with this nonsense.

Trap: As usual, movies from Night Shyamalan almost always on point. Very nice buildup, good suspense, and the cast did their part.

Just that bicycle spoke part, with all those eyes on him, he was able to do that? Haaaa.

Loved the maniacal laughter at the end

7/10.

Rebel Ridge: Nice buildup also, but the end was a let down, below par on what was seen on the trailer, the fight scenes were okay.

The Serpico dragging part is not even remotely possible cos dem for done light up his back with bullets.

He protagonist reminds me of Jack Reacher.

No offense but I don't see WICKED doing a billion.
It would have to do impossible numbers to be able to reach that milestone.
I know it's a very popular musical but I don't seeing it being enough for that worldwide gross. It'd most likely over-index in North America and some European countries but I don't see it juice up to $1bn. The best case scenario I see for it with mad performance is $700mn-800mn+ worldwide.

In fact, I'd pick Joker Folie Á Deaux a possible billion dollar film over Wicked.
Why?
*It's done it before. Has more credibility to do it than Wicked. Wicked also has a massive competitor to face in Disney's MOANA 2 a few weeks after release. They'd justle for same audience. So that movie is definitely gonna impact Wicked's gross.

*Lady Gaga also brings her own set of fans to the DC brand. That's a new fanbase that would probably replenish the lost steam Joker might have garnered.
Joker is also leaning on a mix of musical too.

*The addition of a new Harley Quinn iteration is also a big draw. Every ardent DC fan knows Harley Quinn is easily the highest selling female comic book character in terms of merchandise. In fact she's regarded as DC's third pillar, Wonder Woman doesn't even come close and she even outsells Superman. And she's very very popular with girls, t£enage girls at that.

*The Joker is also the most popular and recognisable CBM villain of all time. So there's that. We've seen before @dults are willing to go out enmasse to watch what they want regardless of no kids demography since COVID ie Top Gun: Maverick, The Batman, Dune Part 2, Venom 1&2.

This movie is also almost as controversial as the first. So more juice of the same.

So there's many variables at play for these two movies. Don't be quick to write Joker off. The same way you can bring many PROS for Wicked, I can do same for Joker 2.

Although, I see Joker 2 doing $720-850mn. It has better chances of doing a billion than Wicked. The only advantage I see for Wicked here is cos of it's PG rating.

Plot armour 101. There were even some instances at the concert venue that defied logic but i will allow because it was a good flick as the movie accomplished what it set out to do and in good time. No time wasting or dragging on unnecessarily.

It was a good flick alright but it would have been great for me if they showed scenes from those murders they claimed the dude committed, it was just basically hearsay, we never actually saw the murders, just one picture of something that looks like a crime scene...

I tried really hard to picture the guy as the psychopathic murder they painted him to be, but I couldn't, all i saw was a guy with OCD..

Well it's N Shyamalan, that's his style of writing, so I guess i just have to let my immagination do the rest and complete the puzzle.

Of course, joker has a better deal but I sincerely don’t see it getting to a billion at all. Maybe because you don’t know how popular The Wizard of Oz franchise is.
Most people don't go to the movies in some parts of America like Kansas and other mid West States - the movie would do exceedingly well there because it's nostalgic : the last wizard of Oz movie was in the 1930s. It would bring old folks and children to the movies.
I don't even know how to explain further. Let's see how it goes

Bruv, this movie Wicked goes against Gladiator II the same day and 5 days later takes on Moana 2. How you're still optimistic about $1bn is funny to me.

If we start picking holes, we might not leave here. There are so many inconsistencies and so many things that could have made it much much better. A strong first and second act, but the third act just went awol to almost cringe level...no wonder critics were tearing it up.

But at least, like we agreed, it was watchable, doesn't intrigue....but watchable.
