Since NNPC has denied being the sole off taker from the refinery, cab the refinery tell us how much a liter will cost from them. At least we can compare with the imported ones and decide.
NNPC is not sincere, they don't want to be occupied with the offtake thing because they have intention to be importing direct from abroad and they want to control the quantity that dangote can supply the market so that their cartel will fill what dangote produce.

Be offtaker is simple, assume Apple phone make NNPC it sole seller of her phone what NNPC will do is just to supply marketer with a fix mark up profit.

NNPC don want it like that they want to do the old business

They are frustrating dangote , we have those crude in abundance why not supply dangote crude oil for free and he refine and sell like 80% of It directly to Nigerians for 50 naira per liter and export 20% and sell and keep the money to himself. Or export other products like AGO and the other by products and keep the profits. Things will be normal again
"We have crude for free" but we dont explore for free...Infact there is no state-owned company doing exploration, NNPC only has joint ventures with multinationals who give NNPC some crude as part of the partnership...Also a portion of the crude allotted to NNPC is already being used as repayment for loans taken by the previous administration....Also FGN cannot force the Multinationals to sell to Dangote or any other local refinery at rates lower than international best prices, neither can they even force them to sell in Naira...

It is decisions of many years crystalizing now.....we need to own the entire value chain as a nation

Regards

The NNPC, in a statement by its spokesman, Olufemi Soneye, said on Saturday that it would not buy Dangote fuel unless it was cheaper than that of the international market.

Is Dangote an enemy of Nigeria?
Re: NNPC Conditions: Dangote Refinery May Dump Local Market, Export Petrol by bigpicture001: 2:45pm On Sep 08, 2024
otherway:
I saw this coming.

"On Saturday, the NNPC stated that it would only fully offtake petrol from the refinery if the market prices of PMS were higher than the pump prices in Nigeria"

I knew that the moment NNPC decides to be the sole buyer, they will try to make the price so high so much that Nigeria will start to wonder if Dangote ref has brought succour or hardship.

Now they probably want Dangote to be the one to announce fuel price so Nigerians will hold him responsible for price hike...

Dangote wants NNPC to announce price since they are the ones selling to Nigerians but NNPC don't want to take the heat from Nigerians.

If Dangote is given the freedom as a private entity to sell at his desired price to any marketer he wants be it agip, con oil and so on, I bet Nigerians will have respite.

But as we all know, NNPC is a currupt system and they will always want to make insane detrimental profits, they will do whatever they can to stop dangote from supplying the fuel at his desired price.
U truly have been follow...so so spot on!

Dangote claimed to be waiting for FG to fix the price of its PMS ,wanted the NNPC to be the sole buyer and also claiming that some marketers are blocking the product.

NNPC says it cannot fix price , and Dangote should go ahead and sell to willing marketers.

IPMAN is waiting for Dangote to start selling products, infact trucks are waiting to start lifting.

Good decision by NNPCL.

Why should okada man and ordinary drivers be forced to pay more for Nigerian-produced petrol if they can access imported petrol at a cheaper price.

Thank God the government did not agree to stop import of fuel.

Why should Dangote refinery be trying to force NNPC to be the sole buyer.

If Kenya wants to buy from Dangote, will the refinery refuse to sell to Kenya unless Kenyan government agrees to be the sole buyer of all petrol that the refinery produces for ever?

What kind of thing is this.

NNPC is also right to say it will not buy from the refinery if it can buy cheaper abroad.

Why should we pay more to buy petrol from a Nigerian producer if we can import it cheaper.

All of this despite the fact we are even selling crude to him in naira.
The answer is simple. His petrol doesnt seem to be cheaper than imported ones and except government buys it and sell to citizens while taking care of the difference

Imported is #897 to #1000 nnpcl
Dangote yet to tell us his own
Which of the two is even serious🤔

And people were believing for #600 per litre fuel price🏃🏃🏃🏃

If Mr Dangote's petrol is not cheaper than imported petrol, we might as well continue with imports.

Okada men and drivers generally will prefer a cheaper imported fuel than an expensive locally produced petrol.

Mr Dangote should channel his petrol to the foreign market if he can find buyers at the more expensive price. But Nigeria must stop selling crude oil to him in naira if he is going to sell abroad in dollars.

It just seems Mr Dangote put all his energy into building a refinery without working out where the crude oil will come from or how he will sell his final output.

The NNPC Ltd spoke person is spot on, the NNPC shall and will never be the sole offtaker be it in the short and medium term. The critical role being played by NNPC is that of consumer protection as part of its energy security mandates enshrined in the PIA, 2021.
To buttres the solemn mandate, as it were, the demand for PMS is perfectly inelastic demand as it usage is akin to the importance of oxygen to humans so is PMS to the automobile transportation ecosystem.
Conversely, irrespective of the price of PMS the demand is steadfast. Hence, the instrument of state is needed for consumer protection!

What is difficult in Dangote letting Nigerians know how much a liter of PMS cost at his refinery?

With this information, we will all know who to hold responsible.

I still don't understand the hide and seek games.
God bless you.

When you read other comments on this thread, you will feel like vomiting. The same people accusing MNPCL of being the sole buyer are still the same people abusing NNPCL for not being the sole buyer from dangote

You won't see it sef
All the major marketers will just scoop it and lock it up in their tanks
It will only work if dangote had already built its own network of fuel stations

This is not NNPC's fault.

If you want to buy a load of pure water from a pure water producer, and the producer says he will only sell to you if you are prepared to be the sole buyer of all pure water he produces now and in the future, will you not take a step back?

A manufacturer can't force you to be the sole buyer of everything it produces.

I suspect Mr Dangote's price is higher than even what NNPC filling stationa are selling at now. He wants NNPCL to be the sole buyer so that government can pay him the subsidy.
