Maduka University Graduates Will Be Job Creators, Not Seekers — Vice Chancellor by Visage24(op): 9:59am On Sep 09, 2024
Prof. Charles Ogbulogo, the Vice-Chancellor of Maduka University, Ekwegbe-Nsukka, Enugu State, has emphasised that the university's primary goal is to produce graduates who possess the skills to become job creators rather than job seekers.

Ogbulogo made this statement in Nsukka recently while speaking with newsmen shortly after inspecting facilities at JOFRAN Global Concept Ltd and G-Techno Interleague Nig Ltd as part of an entrepreneurial partnership with the university.

The Vice-Chancellor, who expressed satisfaction with the facilities at both companies, disclosed that the university would soon sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the firms to advance entrepreneurship training.

“Our vision at Maduka University is to ensure that graduates of the institution acquire at least two vocational skills by the time they complete their studies so that they become job creators instead of job seekers,” Ogbulogo said. “I am here today to inspect their facilities, and I must say that I am impressed with what I have seen. The university will soon sign an MoU with these companies.”

He further explained, "We are here to inspect their facilities to ensure that we can replicate them at our university for the entrepreneurial training of our students. Maduka University is an entrepreneurial university that ensures students graduate with at least two skills that will make them self-reliant and job creators.”

In response, Chief Ifeanyichukwu Okpo, the Managing Director of JOFRAN Global Concept Ltd., expressed his enthusiasm for partnering with a reputable institution like Maduka University on entrepreneurship initiatives.

Okpo, who also serves as the Director of the Centre for Agriculture at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, explained that his company specialises in bee farming, honey harvesting, honey processing, and exporting honey and its by-products according to international standards.

“That is why my company supplies honey to major hotels in the country; exports honey and its by-products, and represents Nigeria in all international honey exhibitions,” Okpo said.

Similarly, Mr. Peter Onyeke, an engineer and the Managing Director of G-Techno Interleague Nig Ltd, shared insights into his company’s operations, which include machine fabrication and the processing of agro food, vegetables, and spices.

“Our company fabricates various types of machines and uses them to process agro food, vegetables, and spices, which we then sell to those in need,” Onyeke explained
.
“We have machines that process the popular spice known as ‘Okpeyi Nsukka,’ package it neatly, and supply it to markets and supermarkets across the country and beyond. We also have machines that peel cassava, grind it, press out the water, and fry it. Additionally, we have machines that crush plastic bottles, among others.”

Onyeke, who is also the proprietor of Onward Secondary School Nsukka, expressed his excitement about collaborating with Maduka University to produce graduates equipped with the necessary skills to become job creators rather than job seekers.

“This is something that other universities in the country should emulate so that students, upon graduation, will be self-reliant and job creators instead of job seekers,” he said.

The Vice-Chancellor was accompanied on the facilities inspection by Dr. Dan Ochi, Vice President (Business Development), Nsukka Chambers of Commerce and Industry.

It's a good thing seeing that Maduka University is making efforts to equip its undergrads with entrepreneurial skills. But he should have told us how graduates who intend to start their own businesses can get capitals to kick off their businesses.

Big dreams, however possible

We know how critical entrepreneurship is to the resolution of Nigeria’s unemployment struggles but he doesn’t have to romanticize it. We know it’s a marketing gimmick

This makes sense....
Now that we know our government is irresponsible, instead of wasting time complaining about things that cannot change anytime soon, why not try to do those basic things for yourself and in the process, help others...

But instead, u go see graduate go dey do content for TikTok....

Wake up enter TikTok for midnight, u go see full fledged graduate dey do TikTok, dey hustle for gifts...

U dey use iPhone of no less than 500k....and u dey complain say things hard....

Other reasonable people go use that phone money open one small business....

I no dey talk say government dey do well o... But we the masses are one of our own biggest problems....

Nigeria will be great again Sha...

Let's all play our part and pray for God to give us a good government that can positively compliment our efforts
