anonimi:The United States massively helped Japan back to its feet by providing intellectual property, openness of the US market and favourable deals. As Japan grew tremendously as a result of its hard work where its firms challenged their American counterparts, the United States cut its wings with the Plaza Accord. It is that similar deal the Chinese have refused to sign. So, yes, the Japanese worked hard to be where they are today, but they had strong American assistance. Ditto for South Korea which had assistance from Japan, and China had investments from Japan and an open market to the US. Europe on its own had the Marshall Plan Act. As for the Dominican Republic, as the other poster stated, the Portuguese/Spaniards were not as destructive as the French. See the miscegenation they did across South America compared to the One-Drop Rule Anglo-Americans did in the US. But generally, the French have been terribly bad towards black countries, and even other colonies. Haiti was forced to pay huge loans because it challenged French colonial powers. I cannot think of a prosperous country whose previous colonial masters were the French. It is that bad. |

IbeOkehie:In relation to black Africans? No. The majority of Nigerians and other Africans enjoy certain technologies and infrastructure as a result of the decision of the Chinese to spread them to Africa. The roads, telecommunications infrastructure, railways, airports, sea ports, factories, mining, heavy-duty equipment etc. Without the Chinese immense contributions and investments, Africa would have been much poorer than it is and MANY Africans would have been starved of ubiquitous technologies in other parts of the world. No race or country is perfect, but the Chinese have been a hooge blessing to Africa(ns), nay black people, without the dehumanisation we received in the past 400+ years. |

Gerrard59:So the key is hard work, which we blacks are not interested in, preferring to blame colonial masters for our woes? Dominica and St. Lucia are former French colonies in the Caribbean that are not as bad as Haiti. Were the Japanese antagonistic towards Americans when they were receiving support from them? Or the Germans? Or even the Chinese and South Koreans? If a small boy is arrogant and antagonistic to his big man benefactor, why should he not be dealt with ruthlessly ![]() |

Gerrard59:Black Africans dehumanized themselves. We sold our own into Slavery to alien races. The Gods are haunting us. The Haiti you claim was harmed by the West is populated by the descendants of Black African people that other Black Africans SOLD into slavery. That's easy to ignore and heap all blame on the White Man. This moral selectivity is mind bending. Crazy and outrageous. How and when did China develop? Who helped make China a developed country? China was once shared like a cake among great power nations, including your Japan. It was conquered and colonized. The British forced them to import HEROIN and a huge proportion of the population got addicted. In the 1950s under their Maoist, purist Communist system, they had constant famines and mass death from starvation. Since you admire or are so grateful to China, I trust you know WHEN and HOW they started their journey to development. Now that China has managed to become a better country, Black Africans have come to beg for help. We're not asking China HOW they learned the art of fishing, we just want to be handed baskets of fish. And imagine there will be no price to pay. Just like we expect cheap petrol. This is the same logic that has led our cousins in the USA to hate Republicans. They are racists. They hate Black people. They want to put us back in chains. If you don't vote against Republicans then you ain't Black ![]() The Black African. Always begging and never thinking past the next meal. The Chinese Communist Party is now the next Messiah? LooooL, When China is finished with the Dark Continent, una go be like Nigerian Zombies regretting their vote for APC and turning into Wailing Wailers. Right now as we discuss this, millions of Chinese are scrambling to migrate to the USA. Granted some of them are spies, but I believe the majority seek something more precious than wealth....FREEDOM. Seriously, Black Africans are pathetic. Go ahead and submit to China. They offer better goodies than the gin and mirrors that our wise ancestors got to sell their brethren so 🤷 you might have a point. ramafama:I'm not anonymous. It's known to all but not politically correct to talk or write about. You know it. Everyone knows. Nature is a Free Market. The trading results are clear and visible to all. IbeOkehie:As I stated, no race is perfect. My interest is for my side to win, nothing else. If winning means going to the Chinese, I will do it. I have stated that Africans should be better negotiators with outsiders, especially the Chinese. The Chinese shared railway technologies with Nigerians in Ogun and Lagos. Why did Germany not do it? If tomorrow Lagosians and Ogun people cannot grasp the technology, that is on them. But the Chinese have shared it. They also shared the same railway technology with the Indonesians as that was the deal breaker to win contracts versus the Japanese. Personal/group interests. If Germans offer more than the Chinese, we go with them. This is the same thing India does - India's interest is paramount over anyone else. |

IbeOkehie:Agreed. How and when did China develop? Who helped make China a developed country? China was once shared like a cake among great power nations, including your Japan. It was conquered and colonized. In the 1950s under their purist Communist system, they had constant famines and mass death from starvation. Since you admire or are so grateful to China, I trust you know WHEN and HOW they started their journey to development. The US offered the market to the Chinese in exchange for cheap labour. As the Chinese improved on the labour and acquired high-value skill set, they started their businesses. It was a transactional deal, not a one-sided thing. Western companies benefitted immensely from Chinese labour and a huge market. In return, the Chinese got investments and technologies. Just because the West is against China today because the latter has decided to say no to perpetual cheap labour designation does not mean we should distort the narrative. Chinese, both in the Mainland and elsewhere, worked to become where they are today. They got what they wanted and built on it. Moreover, China has always been a major empire. Na Opium War and conquest make am dull. But never again as the Chinese I speak to tell me. They rather die than have those years repeated. Now that China has managed to become a better country, Black Africans have come to beg for help. We're not asking China HOW they learned the art of fishing, we just want to be handed baskets of fish.Yes and no. Previously and in some countries, they asked for fish. However, these days, African countries are demanding more from the Chinese - investments, factories and access to the Chinese markets aside from minerals. Thankfully, that is happening. In Zimbabwe, Chinese firms have invested in processing facilities employing hundreds of Zimbabweans. In nearby Zambia, an American firm Kubold Metals is only interested in extracting the minerals and onward to the US. The EU sued Indonesia in court (WTO) for "daring" to institute that all minerals must be processed in Indonesia before export. What did the Chinese do? They set up factories across the archipelago. What is the US doing? Passing laws that prevent exports from Indonesia if Chinese firms were behind the extraction and processing. The question is: if the US so much adored Indonesian minerals, why didn't it invest and process as the Chinese did? Meanwhile, for Kenya and South Africa agribusinesses, tariffs and market access have been granted by China and many other African countries. This is the same logic that has led our cousins in the USA to hate Republicans. They are racists. They hate Black people. They want to put us back in chains. If you don't vote against Republicans then you ain't BlackTo be fair, no one likes black people. Even black people don't like themselves. The Black African. Always begging and never thinking past the next meal. The Chinese Communist Party is now the next Messiah? LooooL, When China is finished with the Dark Continent, una go be like Nigerian Zombies regretting their vote for APC and turning into Wailers. This is not APC, and even if it were, people can clearly see the difference between the Chinese and the US. Surveys across the world have proven that aside from the West and its allies, residents in other countries prefer China to the US. Why should Nigeria nay Africa be different? Right now as we discuss this, millions of Chinese are scrambling to migrate to the USA. Granted some of them are spies, but I believe the majority seek something more precious than wealth....FREEDOM.Migration is human. To be a human is to migrate. People will always migrate. Seriously, Black Africans are pathetic. Go ahead and submit to China. They offer better goodies than the gin and mirrors that our wise ancestors got to sell their brethren so 🤷 you might have a point. No one is submitting except the person is a mumu and an ignoramus. People are out for their interests. The Chinese fuifil them, so it is logical to do deals with them. |

Gerrard59:The only reason China has developed was the partial adoption of FREE MARKETS by Deng Xiapong in 1978. That's all, nothing else. Until Black Africans learn that lesson, they will NEVER become developed or prosperous or have high HDI. The White Man can't help you, Chinaman can't help you, the future Alien Race coming from Mars can't help. The NUMBER ONE lesson from world history is everyone stay in your own environment with people as similar as possible, and TRADE with others. Colonialist mercantilism, fascism, communism, royal feudalism, all have been discredited by their visible and lived RESULTS. Our Igbo people tried to colonize other Black Africans in Nigeria on the back of British Imperialism and see where it got us...we had a chance of forming a nation with related tribes like the Ibibio and Efik that would have naturally blended with us the way Wales has blended with England, but we wanted more. Apparently you don't see the danger of millions of Chinese men suffering from a gender imbalance inserting themselves into Black Africa. The Black African can't see further than the next meal. Do people even know what the Communist Party is about? Ever heard about the Uighurs in China? And you want such an institution in your country? Don't worry, we will learn. I'm DONE with this topic. Good Luck to Black Africans. |

IbeOkehie:Oh yes! The free market is a major answer to many economies in the continent. Apparently you don't see the danger of millions of Chinese men suffering from a gender imbalance inserting themselves into Black Africa. That is not going to happen. East Asians, especially the men, are not fond of black people and their genes in them. Japanese men abandoned pregnant women in Congo. They could not have done the same in Taiwan or Thailand where there many Japanese men live. East Asian men revert to Southeast Asia to get women, not Africa. The Black African can't see further than the next meal. Do people even know what the Communist Party is about? Ever heard about the Uighurs in China? And you want such an institution in your country? Don't worry, we will learn. I'm DONE with this topic.A clear example of someone who has detached himself from Africa and is not bothered with other parts of the world. I find your concern for Ugygurs to be quite hilarious. Quintessential American rhetoric. |

Thanks for your answer. As black Africans we have entrenched this culture where we do anything (in the moment) to look go to our fellow man and to feel good about ourselves. We need re-orientation as a people. I don't know if it would happen in my life time. Maybe not. I remember a time in my Engineering final year on a trip to Warri Refinery in the 90s. We got to the Refinery, the Engineer there was so disinterested in the work and tour, wouldn't answer questions as we went around. His concern as we walked around with our HOD was to get our HOD to ensure his person blantantly got admission in University. On that trip, I was encouraging all of us to band together to do something, build something for the future. No one was interested. They all believed they would get jobs in Shell or Mobil. Nigeria was good. We will all be fine. It would favour us. Where are they today? I am fine but I am a broomstick. If we had done something together, we could have been a broom and we would have swept. Sometimes, I wish the Lord would remove the desire I have to be part of the solution, to do something. I am getting old and I am tired of my people and their inability to see beyond themselves and their immediate needs. |

Gerrard59:My heart isn't bleeding for the Uighurs. My heart bleeds that the same methods will be applied in Black Africa, using FREE INFRASTRUCTURE as the key for penetration. Communism and Socialism and their political organizations are poison. They ALWAYS bring death and destruction. ramafama:Don't worry, the Chinese are coming. Good Luck to Black Africans. |

Gerrard59:Siemens of Germany had a deal with our government about electricity. It hasn't helped and will not help because the deal isn't market based. The railway deal with China won't do much good because all rail systems in Nigeria are owned by government. Petrol refinery is a comatose industry not because of Shell or Exxon representing Western imperialism, it's in that condition because there's no free market for petrol. There's PRIVATE mini-refineries operating in the jungle in the Niger Delta. I guess those ones are based on ILLEGAL technology transfer abi? The White Man...South African Boer racists for that matter....own or control MTN and have helped bring widespread telecom adoption because the telecom sector is free market based. I don't know what's hard to understand about this. Nigeria needs Free Markets, property rights and sound money management...at least don't print naira recklessly. The Communist Party of China will show Africans shege. Una never see anything. Good Luck to Black Africans. |
| Re: Petrol At 1,000 Naira Per Litre: Nigerians are going through hell by IbeOkehie: 8:35pm On Sep 10, 2024 |
ramafama:Hmmm, well let me tell you this - you would very likely have FAILED in whatever you were planning to do because Nigeria is NOT a free market, it has no property rights and government dominates everything. That's the real problem and it has become intractable because a vast majority of the Nigerian people support this socialist way of running our economy. That's all there is to it. Most of the big billionaire businessmen you see doing well are actually TOOLS of foreign governments. That's HOW they succeed. As the Nigerian government itself is also a tool of foreign interests. There's a lot I'm wary of discussing. All I will say is that there's a lot of synergy between spying, subversion and business. What will it take to get a Nigerian to sell out his country to neo-colonial powers? Or think about it like this. The ONLY countries in Black Africa with personal property rights and right to bear arms are those where White Europeans settled and became citizens. Why? This thing is deeper than you think. I used to be an Africanist militant in my younger days. Then I grew out of it. So will you. And Oga Gerrard. Because both of you, judging by your writing, are very smart. Good Luck to Black Africans. |

IbeOkehie:LOL! Death and destruction? Hahahahahahahhahaha Go tell this to Southeast Asian farmers who are making a sh!tload of money selling fruits to the Chinese. Yes, we have to enact free market principles all round, but outrightly labelling China as destructive that first (with rudimentary knowledge) worked with Tanzania to build a railway line (without colonial thought behind its construction) is hilarious. IbeOkehie:I agree that our failure to enact free market principles will do us more harm than good. The railway lines in Japan and surrounding environments are owned by private firms. In Singapore, a private company operates the train services with the government owning some shares in it, but without daily operations. It is unfortunate we have a socialist mindset amongst our people. But that is not no fault of the Chinese. The Chinese have no issues competing in a free market. It is actually the West that has applied socialist policies aimed at protecting its automobile markets. Rightfully so for (geo)political reasons, but the Chinese are so good the numbers favour them. |

haybhi1:The average and vast majority of Black Africans see it as free, it's implied in all the dreamy comparisons between how Africa has been treated by the West vs how China is treating us. Basically, as usual, the Black African thinks the loans are not meant to be repaid. Go check what has happened in Zambia and a few other places. China was even seizing Nigerian assets recently. There's nothing complex about Free Markets. Granted real life markets can't be completely free, so the aim should always be a market in which participants are as FREE AS POSSIBLE FROM IMPOSED CONSTRAINTS. Simple example in Nigeria is the Land Use Act which is part of the Constitution. It should be repealed so that INDIVIDUALS can own land. That's a very simple thing. Good Luck to Nigeria. |
