This Is not a News ,at all. Taiwan has always been thriving on their own,but China wants it under them, because they considered Taiwan as a renegade and is not so With International - UN Nations. Then you wander- what the Chinese really wants? Here is China with an African Continent Population of 1.45Billion People,so why do you Still want a growing Country of 25 Millions under you? Is It not that you are jealous of Taiwan that is developing on her own and you want to destroy it,as you did to HongKong handed back to you by the British? But look at Hong Kong now, they are being retarded by Dictatorship Policy of China! It will eventually lead to War,which the China would not like and Taiwan herself is ever Preparing! China should forget the Taiwanese People and they should let it be! |

What a dumb thing to do, Nigeria has enormous amounts of llthium, like Taiwan, the Chinese have been trying to annex Taiwan to control TSMC( Taiwanese SemiConductor Manufacturing Company), if they have Nigeria they can open a semiconductor plant here employing only their citizens because they know how to make chips. Nigeria is being conned slowly into a lithium wH00RE, mark my words they will harvest Nigeria like a ripe fruit. |

A mistake Tinubu has made again and will live to regret in the entire existence of Nigeria. This idiot does not seem to understand what is happening, Let him ask Russia, US , Macao and HK how China has been to them. Even this useless idiotic india, he needs to ask them what china has done in that region. When someone does not know History, this is what you get. |

MadPolitician:Nigeria has its interests. which are paramount over anything else. There is no benefit whatsoever from Taiwan to Nigeria. Nigeria is too big to depend on the crumbs Taiwan doles to countries who recognise its legitimacy. |

sagitariusbaby:China is Taiwan's biggest trading partner. Taiwanese are literally CHINESE by ethnicity or race, however, you define it. How on earth can the biggest economy in the world need Taiwan? Taiwanese farmers complained of low sales to China when Taipei was doing strong head months ago. Our interests are bigger than any animosity both parties have. If tomorrow we benefit more from Taiwan than Mainland China, we revert. For now and in the foreseeable future, Mainland China will continue to remain the dominant economy in Asia and across the world. China, not Taiwan, trades with more countries than any other nation. It is the world's factory and biggest automobile market. |

Davidcorny:Jesus! Semiconductor chips in Africa? How come no company has opened such in South Africa or Kenya? Chinese firms have lithium and cobalt factories across Africa, but NO Taiwanese firm has the same. Taiwan is not interested in Africa other than for recognition purposes. Africa trades more with Mainland China than Taiwan. So, why should we disrupt that relationship for a country that does not have our economic interests at heart? Chinese companies have opened railway training centres in Lagos and Ogun. How many Taiwanese companies do you know that have opened a factory or training centre in Nigeria? For you to mention a semiconductor plant in Africa, I strongly doubt you understand what a semiconductor plant is. |

Gerrard59:Government agent spotted!! Taiwan controls most of the worlds semiconductor output, railway !== semiconductor company. "Taiwanese companies dominate the global semiconductor output. Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) is responsible for around 50 percent of global semiconductor chip production. By contrast, no single country accounts for more than 18.5 percent of global oil production." "Silicon dioxide is found in large concentrations around beaches. This is why Nigerian states like Rivers, Cross River, and Lagos states have large deposits of silica sands." - Source https[://]businessday[.ng]/technology/article/chip-wars-how-nigeria-can-tap-1trn-industry/ Nigeria is like a ripe virgin for China, they will mine us dry, remember there are illegal gold mining and other mineral mining done by Chinese companies in Nigeria. “Before the Chinese came, we had artisanal miners. They could only bite as much as they could chew,” he told NTC News as part of an investigation in 2023. “Then came the big players, the Chinese illegal miners, and they came with excavators.” A recent report by researchers Oluwole Ojewale of the Enhancing Africa’s Response to Transnational Organized Crime (ENACT) project, and Freedom Onuoha, a lecturer at the University of Nigeria, revealed how Nigeria’s mining sector is plagued by insecurity and organized crime. “In the banditry-affected north-west and central areas, loose criminal networks engaged in illegal gold mining have ties to foreign actors and facilitate trafficking,” said the report, which was published on December 13, 2023. “Foreign networks operate like their local counterparts and have repositioned their activities in the criminal value chain through direct involvement in illicit gold mining in remote villages and forests.” The researchers say that foreign demand drives most of the criminal markets for gold in Nigeria. Nigerian authorities have arrested several Chinese nationals since 2020 for involvement in illegal mining. “Our mining sector has not been accorded much priority by the nation’s security actors until recently, when illegal mining was linked to rural banditry,” said a Zamfara State senior police officer, who spoke to ENACT on condition of anonymity. “Most of the mining activities are being done by illegal miners because mining sites have been neglected by regulators and security agents. Chinese and other foreigners too are taking advantage of this prolonged neglect by the nation’s mining regulators and security agents. It’s also the reason why bandits are attracted to the sector.” In April 2023, British newspaper The Times published a stunning report about Chinese companies that gained access to mines by paying Nigerian extremist militant groups, “raising the prospect that Beijing could be indirectly funding terror in Africa’s largest economy. https[://]adf-magazine[.#com]/2024/02/chinese-gold-miners-fuel-insecurity-in-nigeria/#:~:text=Illegal%20gold%20mining%20is%20a,rise%20around%20these%20pit%20mines. |

MadPolitician:It will definitely attract some reaction from the west and especially the United States of America. The United States signed an defensive alliance pact with Taiwan in exchange for easy access to the resources and would not take this lightly with the Tinubu government. I believe that this agreement with China has a lot to do with the case with the Chinese firm and Ogun State. The US are going to bend their power on the Tinubu government and there's going to be more searchlights beamed on this administration from the international world from now on. This is the similar to what happened during the Jonathan government, after the US hindered Nigeria's weapons purchase to fight the Boko Haram due to amnesty international reports, Jonathan opted to deal with the Russians instead, but the US didn't like that very much and completely antagonised Jonathan's government so much that even Obama openly campaigned against Jonathan on air, that was a breach of international law. That Obama telly "message to Nigerians" helped in swaying the votes of the under and Buhari happened. The rest na history. |

SpyMaster1:Did the President consult with Nigerians before this decision? If democracy is government of the people for the people and by the people, who are the people? Did "the people" agree to this? Government is either a scam, democracy a hoax or the definition is deliberately deceitful or maybe we are just being lied to. |

Not the kind of news I wanted to hear, but I knew Tinubu will have to give something to save the situation. Over to the people who blamed president Tinubu for what he knew nothing about, you will keep paying the price alongside him, because not every response is good. It's unfortunate that president Tinubu will keep making this tough decisions as long as his persecution is loud in the media and no strong presence of his supporters online to dilute igbos propaganda. Yoruba still don't understand the modern day politics, even China will take advantage of that, I'm sure Taiwan will understand that our president is between the rock and a hard place. Oloriburuku ni Seyi Tinubu for letting Obidients and Atikulate take over the social media when he can afford to hire 1,000 laptops to give them a run for their money on every social media platform. |

When did Nigerian govts start "consult" Nigerians for anything? Stop treating president Tinubu differently, we are still in Nigeria. Maybe when he transforms Nigeria to the country we pray for or we all go our separate ways, none of which you would agree to, so enjoy your Nigeria just the way you want it for now. Whada: |

African countries are just so useless in the world. Zero ambitions; no power; no influence; just pathetic leadership pandering to foreign whims. I understand the problem; it just hurts to be alive and be black in this era. The whole of Africa going to meet one China, one USA. Always needing aids. Ha! |
