The Pat & Gbenga Komolafe Foundation has successfully graduated its inaugural cohort of trainees in Digital Upskilling and No-Code Web Development.

This was announced by the Foundation’s Public Relations Officer, Ms. Lilian Nwawuchie, during an interview with newsmen on Tuesday in Abuja.

Ms. Nwawuchie described the graduation as a significant milestone that demonstrates the Foundation’s dedication to equipping Nigerian youth with future-ready digital skills.

She emphasized that the initiative aims to provide young people with the tools needed to excel in today’s rapidly evolving digital economy.

Participants from Ondo, Lagos, Rivers, FCT, Akwa Ibom, Kano, and Kaduna States received hands-on training over several weeks, acquiring advanced skills in digital technologies and no-code platforms,” she said.

“The program aims to enhance employability, foster entrepreneurship, and contribute to Nigeria’s growing tech ecosystem.”

The culmination of the program was marked by a special graduation ceremony, where participants showcased their projects, including business websites, e-commerce platforms, and innovative digital solutions all built using no-code tools.

The Programme Director, Mr. Josh Emmanuel, underscored the Foundation’s mission to empower young Nigerians with essential digital skills. “This graduation is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our participants, and we couldn’t be prouder of their achievements.”

Beneficiaries of the program expressed gratitude for the opportunity. Paul Fakedayo from Ogun State shared, “I had no background in web development, but now, I can confidently build functional websites for small businesses. This skill will definitely help me contribute more to my community and potentially start my own web development agency.”

Similarly, Conway Oloruntoyi from Ondo State called the experience life-changing: “Before this, I struggled with basic computer skills. Now, I can build websites and apps without writing a single line of code.”

Other participants, including Jeremiah Ehije from Edo State and Daniel Emmanuel from Lagos, echoed similar sentiments, praising the no-code tools for offering an accessible entry into the tech space and opening new professional doors for them.

The Pat & Gbenga Komolafe Foundation, a non-profit organization, focuses on empowering underprivileged communities through education, skills development, and capacity-building initiatives. One of its primary goals is to provide youth with the necessary skills for success in the digital economy.

I am sorry, and this is not to in any way discount your effort. But, what Nigeria really need to get ahead is not equipping youths with a watered down skill or a skill that is about to be phased out. Unfortunately, with these kinds of skills you've got here, they are in no way on the same level to compete on the global stage.

Teach the youths to be innovative via intensive project-based skills.

And how many have you empowered by commenting on Nairaland? This is an NGO, not your government, so your comment still remains an insensitive one, despite your pre-stated excuse.

The applicants themselves can improve on their skills and earn something while working on themselves. . . Something is better than nothing!

Why do you people only read to respond, and not to understand? You lot are always quick to attack anyone with a different view by asking this f00lish question (bolded text 👆) up there.

If you look around you now, do you actually think tech shït is what Nigerians need right now? You guys don't even enjoy adequate govt support in the technology sector na.

You Nigerians can't be saved walahi.

I will assume the above is true, because I want to be objective. Regardless, everyone has different capacities, so this kind act of generosity shouldn't be met with criticism. You can only critique something done by the government or something paid for... This is quite different.

Keep helping people... It's a good thing. Shalom!

This is exactly why I’ve been laughing since I saw the thread.

Not to berate them, but this approach won’t help them advance in the web development world, as you mentioned.

They would be better off pursuing self-taught programs given the wealth of online resources available.

These cohort programs often give crash courses and graduate participants who come out thinking they have acquired the necessary skill set, whereas they are still far from the industry standard.

Oga, no knowledge is useless. They can build on it. Even the university will only teach you the basics, it is now left for you to build on it

If it is met with constructive criticism, then it is good.
