Dear Christians, Have You Discussed These Passages At Bible Study Before? by DZTech(op): 7:18pm On Sep 10, 2024
Acts 2:44-47
Life among the Believers

Acts 4:32–35
The Believers Share their Possessions

Acts 2
44 All the believers continued together in close fellowship and shared their belongings with one another.
45 They would sell their property and possessions, and distribute the money among all, according to what each one needed.
46 Day after day they met as a group in the Temple, and they had their meals together in their homes, eating with glad and humble hearts,
47 praising God, and enjoying the good will of all the people. And every day the Lord added to their group those who were being saved.

Who wouldn't want to join such a group of people?! 😀

Acts 4
32 The group of believers was one in mind and heart. None of them said that any of their belongings were their own, but they all shared with one another everything they had.
33 With great power the apostles gave witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and God poured rich blessings on them all.
34 There was no one in the group who was in need. Those who owned fields or houses would sell them, bring the money received from the sale,
35 and hand it over to the apostles; and the money was distributed to each one according to his need.

Can there be poverty in such a community? Which Christianity do you prefer-
The one described above, or the one that collects tithes from the poor? 🤷🏾‍♂️

Many of us don't know how the first Christians lived as one people. Maybe it's time to start asking YOUR pastor why HE doesn't practice these examples in your church. 🤨
God bless 🇳🇬

People are still doing it today but the problem is with the devolution of such gifts/donations.

Most, if not all, goes into the bottomless pockets of the "Apostles".

The biggest problem is the fact that churches are filled with mixed multitude today, unlike then, when those who follow Jesus are actually those who truly believed and have experienced genuine transformation of life and mind. It was time when Christians were endangered species,so people who are not Christians don't identify as Christians, what do they stand to get, than persecution or death.
Today too many dishonest and greedy people in churches, even if you donate your life savings, those who will benefit from you might even be richer than you,but will keep their own and still receive from the church.

Right there in Acts we see the complaints that led to the formation of stewards in the early church. 😲

Remember-
These were by the FIRST Christians to receive the Holy Spirit. 💁🏾‍♂️
So why are Christians today not following the same examples? 🤔

Sorry I may offend some people with this.
Today's Church may not be able to follow same patter even they have Deacons in the Churches because the church of today is more of a business than and embodiment of "repented" Souls. The Pastors or Founders operate the Church more of a business. You dare not raise your voice in matters of finances.

Or you are christened "enemy" of the Church, or pushed out. If you know a little deeper about the foundation of that Church, hmmm, I pity such individual.
Though not all but very scarce. Some will feign repentance after having arrived. It's a pity we live in a society where a "man of God" has a private jet, bullet proof cars, convoys with security guards, children overseas, expensive phones, living in ac apartment just mention any luxury, yet the poorest of the members continue to contribute widow's mite.

This is not to discourage people from giving but just an observation.
