Palmoil rice and bonga fish, that balanced diet meal is what you called food that reduce I.Q? I think you need to go outside the more and see the reality of present-day Nigeria. P.S: That meal there nothing linked with it regarding a child I.Q |

VinnyBaba:You now see with your eyes the sufferings that the children of the Niger Delta are facing. I've lived in Effurun, ugbomro-iterigbi axis for some time and I can say that this country is doing a disservice to those who produce 80% of its wealth. This will be my fight if I become the President. |

Nope... Nothing to do with food! 1. Genetics - how mentally sophisticated is their gene pool or ancestory? 2. Exposure and Environment - How academically and intellectually oriented is the environment? 3. Family Backgrounds - Families lacking in intellect and academic grace will more than likely always bring forth offsprings in the same vein. |

A child's intelligence and retentive memory is mostly influenced by genetics.. Some kids are gifted from birth, irrespective of what they are fed..while some kids are born to be "average", no matter what Besides intelligence is multi dimensional..while some kids are book smart, some are just born politicians, sports men, artisans, criminal masterminds, etc So remembering or not remembering what is taught is not a definite measure of intelligence |

VinnyBaba:So you really think processed foods like corn flakes noddles, etc are better than natural foods like rice, palm oil and bongs fish, your observations is based on emotional sentiments not actual science fact, the problem with those kids is not nutrition or genetically inherited, the environment you grow up moulds you to what you will be,take that dull kid and give him to an oga in onitsha for a 7 year business apprenticeship in a market full of smart boys and see what he will become |
| Re: Does Food Influence A Child's IQ Development? by ScarletBrace(m): 8:21pm On Sep 10, 2024 |
VinnyBaba:In this case it’s not the food, because those kids are very smart at other things if you care to check. I mean other things that the school of life will demand. Speaking English is not intelligence. The environment there is the main cause of concern. Not the food. You’re more likely to churn out better engineers from that locality than professors of semantics and huge vocabularies. |

VinnyBaba:Genetics. Outliers. You always have them. The thing is people from that doctor's village have a lower AVERAGE IQ that people from communities where the food is better. |
| Re: Does Food Influence A Child's IQ Development? by JuanDeDios: 8:23pm On Sep 10, 2024 |
ScarletBrace:Those kids will do better in algebra and calculus than better-resourced kids? Naah. Food does influence brain development. Yes, food is not the only factor, but it's an important one. |

It's not the foods. It's the amount of the exposure they have. Bad and unmotivated teachers. Parents are stark illiterate that is, no home schooling to support the teachers. |

VinnyBaba:Times have changed....the world is now more fast paced and so much information to assimilate even at early stage......you need really smart kids to be able to catch up even the dumbest kids today are still far more intelligent than kids in our parents generation. |
| Re: Does Food Influence A Child's IQ Development? by YoungBlackRico(m): 8:54pm On Sep 10, 2024 |
Nope, I do not agree. I've seen kids eating well balanced meal perform woefully and there are kids that just eat to get a filled stomach, they perform excellently. There are other factors aside food abeg. |
| Re: Does Food Influence A Child's IQ Development? by mummymum: 8:55pm On Sep 10, 2024 |
No I disagree with you food intake can't improve a child's IQ. If it does the rich men children would have been the most brilliant children on earth while the poor men children would have been behind them. The reverse is the case. If you check the public university, the best graduating student always is from poor background. So I think a smart and intelligent child gets it from his/her gene. |

| Re: Does Food Influence A Child's IQ Development? by YoungBlackRico(m): 9:04pm On Sep 10, 2024 |
lawani:Lack of nutrition may not drastically reduce IQ, it may just be hard to increase it. Genetics and environment are still the main determinant factors. |
